I agree with Dave... i'd be reporting them without question... I have to pay two road taxes... one huge sum for my and another £165 for my uneconomically friendly Zetec.. so thats around... £400+ in road tax alone for cars that I can only drive one at a time... you lot think you got it bad?

The new RS isn't as bad as you think Adam. Ford managed to somehow get it to register emissions of 225 g/km CO2, which means it just scrapes into the new band K and will be £245. One gram more and it would have £425 per year.

Yes for any registered after April 2010 - which probably won't be all that many new RS's since they'll be ceasing production not long after this - then for the first year it's the higher rate of £550. Normally though it will be exactly the same tax as the Mk1 Focus RS.

I agree also that the government should just add 1-2p onto the price of petrol and scrap road tax. If you have a less economical car or drive alot of miles then you should pay more by buying more fuel.

The road tax is spent on practically everything but the roads, bridges etc. It goes to the NHS, defence, education and other non related sectors. The roads are in a serious state in this country and need fixing!

I agree that the state of a lot of the roads in this country are appalling. It doesn't help that you then get some idiot councils arguing that potholes should be left untouched as they are a traffic calming measure!

Unfortunately I think that the conditions are going to get even worse before they get better. Spending on roads and road maintenance will be cut after the next election regardless of who wins, in order to balance the books. At least it won't be the Liberals who said earlier this year that we should cut the roads budget by 90% to encourage people onto public transport (don't buses go on roads also?).

guys!
please do not complain about your taxes! do you know how much money do i have to spend for having an ST, here in Turkey?

here is the answer: it's 1700 TL in other words about 800 Pounds!
and we do not pay for our CO2 amount, we pay for our car's engine capacity. that means i pay more money than a guy who is driving a 1.6 lt mondeo. that's crazy!
if you have a car like a Focus RS (2.5 liter), you pay about 1200 pound annually. that's the same amount as a Porsche Cayman.

and consider that we have the highest petrol prices in the whole world.

it's 1.2 pounds per liter, unleaded 97 ron.

enough said i think...

Ouch... That's stupid... paying for the size of the engine... ...You might aswell get the smallest 1 litre you can then and turbo it...
