Hey guys,

My Fiesta is going in tomorrow for it's 2nd service (07 plate) but I should have had the service last month but forgot :S

I Just wondered what things they will change etc and if there is any telltale signs that they have actully done the service correctly.

Second service will be oil change, oil filter change, air filter change and pollen filter change. They will also do a quick inspection, let you know how worn your tyres and brake pads are.
If you want to check to see what they are doing, mark your oil filter will a permanant marker (can be seen very easily from underneath the front of your engine). Also, check your oil before driving off (see that it is new or even that there is some in there!!)
If you want to be really vigilant, check the air filter and pollen filter too!

Oil and filter and pollen filter, then a few checks here and there, get your body and paint check done at the same time.

You want to ask beforehand what they are exactly going to do/change.

Oil and filter is a given but whether you get air/pollen/fuel and new plugs is what you need to find out.

A good tell tale sign that the car has been to a Ford dealer is that the front tyres will be bald, there will be less fuel than when you dropped it off and about 50 extra miles on the clock.
You could also find bacon/sausage fat on the passenger seat if your car was lucky enough to be chosen for the "sarnie run" and if you're really lucky you may get a couple of kerbed alloys, swirl marks in your paint from the courtesy sanding down with the sponge that the chav just washed Mr Hussain's Tranny with and greasy hand marks all over your gearknob and steering wheel.

Oh and you'll be considerably lighter in the wallet dept.

Ford dealer should give you a schedule of what they do, ask for it. I also marked my filter. Ensure you get the paint warranty stamped.

The Paint Warrenty, I bought the car in january from the same dealer used, and the first service is in the book but the paint isnt. I read somewhere else in the forum the paint warrenty is void if not done EVERY Service is that true?

technically yes, depends on garage and how well you know them, ask them if they will stamp the first one.

Please dont let them wash it, I love to wait until they offer me a full valet for an extra £15 just to tell them I dont even want the free wash!

To stop them having a free ride about in it, do what I do and take a photo showing the mileage when you arrive, and make sure that someone knows that you've done that. Never had a problem since I started doing this.
