Parksey, i only get 350 out of my 1.2 16v Clio, so you must not have a heavy right foot, lol!

I don't drive it like I stole it, but I do travel quite a few miles each week so need to take it a bit easy to avoid having to fill it up too much. There's only so many £42 batterings my bank card can take each month!

Good luck at the garage though, let us know your thoughts when you get back.

Not a clue on the techie stuff or 0-60 times! but as far as colour goes I'm a bit biased as I have Perf Blue ST hence the name "blueisthecolour" but given a 2nd chance I think I would favour a White with full stripes these look just fantastic but maybe you need to be a bit of a show off you will get lots of attention.
Seats? no need for full on leather unless you really can't live without heated seats & imo they do make the interior dark. the normal 1/2 leather are oh so comfy

Hi guys,

Back from the garage. I think the sales guy wanted to try his luck with me, he only offered £2,700 for my 52 plate 1.2 16v Clio, meaning if i were to go ahead with this deal, my current car has lost about 5k in 2 years and 8 months! What's that all about? So with the ST, interior pack, privacy glass and discounting my car, the deal came to £11,300!

I've read on other parts of this forum that some guys got this price without even part ex'ing their own car. How did you manage that?

Does anyone have any experience with using the internet to buy new cars for cheaper than list price, for example, cardiscountstore.co.uk or any of the others?

I'm test driving the car tomorrow lunch time so will keep you updated on that.

I looked at the performance blue colour, and wow(!) that car looks so nice! Will prob get it with only half leather seats!

Tyson.

Not sure where you are located but www.archersofashby.co.uk in Leicestershire are offreing the ST for £12,495 + any extra's you may want.

I used their website to barter the price down at my Local Dealer & they actaully beat that price including the extra's + I got £400 more for my p/x!!.

Dealers sre trying to stand firm on the price of the ST as they know they can sell em, all I can say keep trying.

Coast to coast cars are supposed to a good internet supplier.

Performance Blue by the way Greeat Choice

I did the same as blueisthecolour, I printed a quote off an internet broker and showed it to my local dealer, they were quite happy to negotiate. They went back and checked it on the computer and then said they could do it for £100 more than that, which was decent considering I ordered it in January when there weren't many available. Just hold tight and in most cases you'll get what u want!

Chris

Lol, i just took it in my stride, i did snigger for a few seconds when he said. At least it gives me a rock bottom price, so i can only work upwards from that!

Thanks blue, can i part ex my car on that site also, or did you just use the site at your local dealer as a reference? 10.6k is a good price for a new ST!!

Test driving it today, good i hope i'm impressed, although 15 mins is not long enough imo!!

Tyson.

There are a few things you can try. If you've a couple of different Ford dealers locally you can try playing them off against each other, they won't want to lose business to the other. Or saying that if they give you X then you'll sign the dotted line today etc. From originally being offered £3000 at one dealer I managed to get £3500 for my 2000 X reg Fiesta with 36k on the clock, plus the stripes thrown in for nowt.

Cheers Chris, i will play them against each other. I have printed off quotes, off internet sites to see if they can match them, and if not, i will go to another dealership and try it on with them. They are standing firm because there is a waiting list, and they know that they will sell!

I'll keep trying, they is discounts on everything you buy now-a-days!

For example i got a quote (online (coast2coast)) for the:

ST
Privacy Glass
Sunroof
Grab Handle (passenger side)??
Side stripes
Interior styling pack
and Performance Blue matallic for £11,388.

Can anyone recommend any other internet sites, and can anyone say they have used Coast to Coast? (or did you just use it for reference)?

Tyson.

You'll find that attitudes from dealers will vary greatly as far as the price goes. When I bought my 206, I successfully beat the dealer down to match an internet price, but the local Ford dealers were having none of it when I was enquiring about the ST. I got a very good internet quote and took it in and they basically just smirked and kept trying to make out that the car off the internet was an import or an ex-demo or whatever. They resolutely refused to budge far from the list price so I just got up and walked out.

Don't be afraid of buying online, you'll still get the same car with the same warranty and backup that you'd get if you bought from a main dealer. Ok, some cars may be pre-registered (mine was) but it was still brand new, it had only been first registered the day before I collected it and only had 8 miles on the clock. There was even a set of mats and some petrol in it (more than you'll get from an average Ford dealer), and the part-ex that I was offered through the internet company was more than favourable, I doubt I could've got much more had I sold my car privately.

If you're interested, I bought from http://www.allbrandsnew.com

Their phone number is on the site, if you speak to a guy called Pete in their sales office then he should be able to put together a decent deal for you. I even got the full leather seats for about half the option list price...

As for coast2coast, I know of a few guys off another forum who bought their cars through there and haven't had any complaints.

You may also find that internet retailers have a better stock then your local dealer so you won't have to wait so long to get the car.
