Mugged...

Hi all,
So last night while walking home from the pub I was mugged, they took my phone, wallet, ipod, and my keys. The keys are the biggest concern atm, I'm currently waiting for a locksmith to come a replace a second lock. Also taken was my main remote car key, the car is locked behind a secure gate (they don't have the fob to open this), but they have my address and car key.
So any suggestions? Can I disable the remote locking by removing a fuse or something? Luckily the car is going into body shop tomorrow until at least Wednesday so it'll be out the way. I need to sort out a new remote key when I get this am I able to get a different frequency set so the old remote key doesn't work? Using the key in the lock will work still I'm not sure what to do about that 1?

I would get in touch with ford and see what they say, might mean a new ecu or something, unless the old key code can be erased and a new one programmed in. Get yourself some mace mate and mace the ba--ards. Sorry to hear this.

I would definitely be lying in wait with some evidence gathering device as they might come back. As Micky said, the codes can be changed at , just take your ID and V5c along with you if you get any locking thing changed. Just baffles me as to the mentality of these thugs!

sorry to hear this mate
i hope they do come round then maybe you can get some retribution!
i would recommend disconnecting something in the engine bay - at worse it will delay them long enough to call the rozzers.

I got boomerang key cover with my insurance so if it ever happens to me (touch wood) I'm covered, maybe everyone should consider this now that we live in hell, sorry Great Britain On a similar note, my GF said she thought she was going to be mugged on the bus on the way to work Whats up with ppl today

Sorry to hear this mate.
You can have new locks fitted and the ECU can be re-programmed.
In the mean time disconnect the multiplug to the coil pack when you park the car that will throw them for a bit.

I will then put them on a very large ship with all the pervs etc and nasty terrorists, sail them to the most remote part of the pacific and nuke them. Saves spaces in prison and will cost the taxpayer less in the long run.

Thanks for all the support guys here's an update. So I've changed the locks on my flat (the main entrance that is used for all the flats and my flat door) it's a rented flat I've sorted it now comes the arguments with the landlord to see if I can claim any money back off him he has insurance so its worth a go. My if currently locked away safe with Ford (hopefully) I'm having all of the locks changed and some new keys and whatever else needs doing at a cost of £483 I've learn't a lesson here about insurance, I can't claim as my excess is £500 even if it was £300 there would be no point claiming as the price would rocket next time I renew. So next time I renew (august) I'm going to protect my no claims (will be 5 yrs) and get that excess as little as possible (as I'm under 25 I get hit with a few compulsory excesses) so when something like this occurs again I will be able to claim without being punished too badly. I hope others can learn from the problems I've been hit with. Also something else I've been thinking about I've seen a few posts with people getting excited about being able to get insurance for a new focus just keep an eye on those excesses you don't want to get caught out if some minor damage gets done. Sorry I'm getting into rant territory now!

Thats a pain noone needs at the moment hope the landlord helps out with the locks, at least you'll get a bit of cash back I know its a bit late for you now Pazza, but others can consider this: Key Protection. I never thought of this before I got it bundled with my Insurance
