Hi guys trying to fit my K&N today, i bought it second hand and have not got any fitting instructions, just trying to go off what i have found on the web. The breather hose that you unclip from the side of the air box, am i right in thinking that you remove this completely?? Does anything need to go back to replace it? A hose from the filter to here?
Need an extra quick please.

Hi Adam,

Once you have removed the standard airbox, the breather hose will connect into the small outlet on the cone on the genuine K&N cones.

Then the cone fits onto the inlet manifold at the front of the engine.

Ok thanks. Do you use the original hose or should i have received a new one? I did receive a small filter aswell, could it be this i am supposed to fit here?

If the original hose fits OK then I would use it.

The small filter can be used as the breather but I would definitely recirculate the breather back into the filter as it will keep your engine running correctly.

I'm sure someone will pop in and tell you in technical terms why the breather hose should be used!

step 1: find the tools needed
1:plain 1:philips screwdriver.1 drill plus small drill bit to make holes for cable ties,also need blade or cutters for cutting excess cable tie.1 axle stand for under passenger side,10mm spanner or socket.
step 2:undo the clips on the air intake pipes and undo the 2 screws holding the air feed to the front panel.
step 4:get under the car and pull the air resonator box and push it upwards it will go with a little pushing and pulling,theres no screws or owt holding it,remove the loose intake pipes then work the resonator box up through the top.


step 5:on the left hand side of the air box there a pipe you need to take off its just clipped in there.
step 6:remove the old air box,it is stuck on with rubber bungs to the engine a bit of hard wiggleing and off it comes.


step 7:you can now see the end of the air feed pipe you undone from the left hand side just pull the pipe from its rubber housing attached to the rest of the car.
step 8:your new filter should have 2 pipe bungs,1 right angle and 1 straight section attach them to either end of the rubber pipe supplied then connect the right angle end to the rubber pipe you just removed the old plastic air pipe from,then leave for now...
step 9:using the drill make a couple of holes on your new cold air feed pipes on the plastic ends and connect them using a cable tie keeping them nice and tight at 1 end,also strech the pipes out a little giving more length to them.

step 10:slide the pipe down the front to the bottom of the front panel and curl it using the cable tie end toward the front mesh on your grill making sure the pipe work will be at its best position for the air to go in then attach it to the mesh grill with a cable tie,stick the ends of the cable tie through from the front of the grill so theres no unsitely cuts etc outside the car and connect it to the air pipes nice and tight.

step 11:get your new filter out and and fit it together with the jubilee clips on it(you may have to loosten 1 of the clips a little more to go over the rubber at the new filter as i found out after ten minutes pushing and shouting to get the bugger on)attatch the new filter to the intake pipe and tighten up the clips make sure the filter is in a good position for the cold air feed pipes coming up and where the gap is for the old air intake on the front panel.
step 12:position the cold air feed pipes up toward the new filter and cable tie them in position...
step 13:the rubber air pipe attched to the car can now have the straight end pushed into the back of the new air filter.
step 14:re-attach the neg earth to the battery and remove all tools from the engine bay etc and take away the axle stand before firing the car up and giving

Thanks for all of your help. Have ordered one now, hopefully will have it in a couple of days. Will get it fitted then and hopefully we will have a bit of nice weather where i can clean the car and get some pics for you guys.
