Hello guys, after having my ST for a few days, the engine occasionally needed abit of throttle to start! being told u have to floor it sometimes to start it from garage (wan*ers) my o2 centre flicked on causing low power! had it reset by my mecahnic and after reading the "manual" you have to depress the clutch to start the engine, then try again second time if doesnt start and THEN 1/4 - 1/2 throttle to tick it over if all fails! What was happening is there was just fuel pumping over the piston heads and no 02 causing my sensor to kick from the boot load of fuel! just thought id indulge u with the info if anyone else has the same prob!

Have you had the ECU update installed from your local ford garage yet as this could be related to this incident? It's a common problem most us ST users have but a simple ECU Calibration should fix it at a guess.

lights back on! o2 sensor it says again! dont think its the ecu update, i think there for the pre facelift models! mines new shape! gotta get a new sensor put on i think! bloody teething problems! car holds bk in forth gear like hell! like it wants to go but its being restricted!

just phoned my mechanic about which o2 sensor is at fault, rear or front, and he said the computer doesnt tell him but he suspects the front! is there anyway of finding out without forking out for 2 parts! do facelift models need an ecu update? J

No the facelifts also benefited from ECU updates but nevermind. The fault code you're getting should tell you exactly which sensor is at fault. If your mechanic is using some sort of fault code reader/diagnostic machine etc then he should be able to tell. Failing that call the RAC or AA or whoever you're with & get them to read it.

Yeah my engine light has been on for a month now!
I got my front o2 sensor replaced AND it came on again!

I'm waiting for Jam-Sport to fix it on the 26th. 10 days left...
I only drive it if I really have to. To save any damage if there was any to make...
I know what it is. It's the mods I've done to make the sensors play up and Jam-Sport said they'll help because FRAUD haven't a clue!

grrrr gotta drive all the way to sheffield from nottingham again to get the right sensor put on, dont know if its front or back! so they need the graph it! feckin car!

Ouch... it is a headache. I had 3 yes three garages fobbing me off...

I had the same problem on mine. I got P0172 - Bank 1 too rich. It's the cams that actually stuff up the ECU, causing it to go beyond it's limits for fueling. The base table gets mixed up. Mine was waayyy to tich at idle, but ok-ish at WOT. Spent a couple of hours mapping on roling road, sorted now.

Believe me, it's not a lamda sensor.

well we'll see, all standard this car only done 18k so shudnt b anything runnning too rich! computer chucked out o2 sensor! if have same problem after it goes bk under warranty and they sort it out dont they so apart from the messing around gettin up to sheffield from nottingham at least its being sorted for free!

OH, Ok, didnt realize you are still running stock. Your car is older than a year though, and Ford warranty only covers sensors and electrical components for a year or 20K km's.

i know its come from a trade dealer with their 1 month warranty so gotta travel to get it fixed! pain in the arse when uve got 2 jobs lol! ford wanted £96 just for their diagnostics!

just been out in my car 2day with the dreaded light on! it still shoves me bk in my seat when i squeeze throttle but saying that i did think power was down! would it still kick u bk in the seat if in limp mode?
