Hello.

I'm interested in hearing from anyone who like me chose to tick all the boxes and got the Sat Nav.

I'm running an ST as a long-termer for Top Gear and It's a top car that everyone wants to borrow!

cheers

Owen

I'd just like to say welcome to the site first of all. Any queries or problems just Private Message myself or one of the other moderators (FiestaRS, Chris, ChrusCumbria and N13KY V)

I dont think I know of anyone who went for the Sat Nav. I didnt mainly because the car was costing me enough with just the metallica paint!! Why do you ask?

Pinky/Ayesha

I'm asking because I think it's garbage and I wanted to know if anyone else thought the same.

Who snapped my car and where? At the studio?

cheers

p.s. How do I post images in my reply?

You can put photos in your post via sites like Photobucket & just click on Image in the tools below the reply window. You can also post pictures by using the Image Uploader. Click on it, a new window opens, find the image on your computer, click Upload and then copy & paste the text that appears (usually along the lines of this: ..... ) into the post where you want the image

I blame the warm weather (some would say this is normal *ahem*) but I'm being a tad slow... When you say Top Gear do you mean the magazine or TV programme? Its just someone snapped a white ST next/near to Jeremy's GT when they went there & I thought it was you

I have heard people say the Sat Nav is absolute pap and not worth the extra cost.

How are you finding the car??

Ahhhh, now I get it.

I work for the magazine and the car that has been snapped was Richard Porters car that he is running for Evo magazine. My car was snapped with Ford GT no.1 at a cover shoot for the mag a few months back. He met his daddy. Unfortunately I didn't get a drive. But the Ford test driver that came with the GT said he'd prefer to drive the ST anyway. high praise indeed.

He had the stripes taken off the snob!

I'm loving the car, it keeps getting quicker and the exhaust note is better now its done nearly 4k
I'm asking the Ford press garage for the power upgrade (17bhp) that you get with the Group N rally kit as I still think it doesn't feel like a 2.0 litre engine.

Sat Nav is really annoying because you can't listen to a CD at the same time!
I asked if there was a changer option and he said no. I can't be bothered listening to the radio all the time and the actual Navigation was appalling anyway. Ive asked for the 6 CD in-dash.
Is it any good?

Hi Owen , liked your column this month, the car looks very smart

Its very true that it loosens up loads after a few thousand miles.
As PinkRinse says, the vast majority of people didn't get the sat nav, it replaces the 6CD changer for a start and, as you say, is a load of crap!

There have been issues with the CD changer, namely jamming quite frequently for some people, especially with copy CD's , luckily I haven't been affected (touch wood!)

How long are you running the for, six months?

Chris

Ahhh the good old Visteon 6006. Some people have had no problems whatsoever and are still using their original headunits. Some people (fiestakingfisher for example) had theirs pack up within 36 hours. It seems it has great difficulty with copied (CD-r or CD-RW) CDs and they get stuck and cause the now infamous "CD ERR 3". When that happens they are now attempting repairs as its costing Ford a fortune to just straight replace the 6006's (I got a straight replacement).

One bad thing is when your broken 6006 goes back to Visteon you are lucky to get your CDs back at all. The other bad thing is that the replacements are taking anything between 3-10 weeks to arrive!!

When my 6006packed in, I ordered a replacement and went out and got a Pioneer headunit. I'm now planning to sell the replacement on eBay.

Cheers for that. When I run out of things to say I'll be needing your help as no-one has mailed in to fiesta.st@bbc.co.uk with any comments.

I've got the little fella for a year, but not this weekend. I'm trying a CLK320. Yawn.

Reckon I'll go for the 6CD if Ford will let me. Even though I play a lot of copy CDs. I'lll risk it.

I was thinking the other day that I should e-mail, but I forgot

It was going to be to praise the anyway, I've had minimal problems with it so far. I've got the occasional automatic revving when coming to a stop which nearly everyones got (possibly an ecu issue) and a broken from new 60:40 rear seat where the one sides mechanism won't work (being fixed next week).

I didn't see you. It may have been one of the other guys on the mag. I think a few of them go up the M11. I can't remember who had my car last weekend. The queue for it is always there on a Friday.

I noticed the old revving thing. I tend to drive mine on the clutch a bit like my old Pug 205 GTi
Nothing more embarrasing than stalling when you got full stripes.

Cheers for your help. I'll be using the comments next month unless something happens that I can write about. It gets boring when nohting happens except good motoring!
The dash boot release annoys me though. Ignition has to be one to release it. Annoying.

Ignition on? Mine only works ignition off. It seems Ford changed their mind 101 times over that

Oh yeah, forgot about that it infuriates me!

Mine also only works with the engine off Ayesha, despite what it says in the manual.
