they just make the track a little wider at the rear so the car is a bit more planted. helps handling

geronimo - 1033601 is 12.5mm

what exactly do these spaces do guys (sorry for the dumb question)

The rear track on the ST is 25mm less than on the front, Ford did this deliberately during testing as they found it "improved" the handling of the car

Installing spacers (axel or wheel) by 12.5mm each side will of course increase the rear track by the 25mm and bring the rear track in line with the front

The benefit of installing spacers is usually only for cosmetic reasons as it brings the rear wheels out a bit from under those large rear guards on the ST

Claims of "improved handling" and "high speed stability" by retailers of these devices is very debateable (much like many aftermarket off the shelf modification) ... certainly Ford themselves didn't think they were required.

well, this is very strange indeed. If I thought that they removed them because it improved stability I don't think I would install them. This is the first time I hear a claim that the car is more stable without them ?
BTW Ford them-selfs are selling them and I think they removed them to cut costs cheap bas**rds . Just look what they are doing now with 60mm TB-s. As soon as they smell profit they tripled/quadrupled the price .
BTW TB 60mm is 470 UK punds in Croatia, how sick is that .

Ford don't sell them for the Fiesta ST, they sell them for the Ford Puma and they just so happen to fit our car.

Again, the 60mm tb isnt for the Fiesta ST, it's for the 2.3l duratecs like in the s-max and certain mondeo's. But it happens to fit.
