Just got my breaks (at last ) And they have sent me 8 pads! I reakon I know whats what but I want a 2nd 3rd 4th and 5th opinion

I got 2 sets of rears (in the middle of pic)

One set of the front pads have this on them

I assume I use the others thought as the it has 2 little bits poking out like the piston winding tool I got

Hopefully I'll fit em tomorow if I not to hung over or it'll have to be next weekend

The ones with the metal bits poking out fit into the piston and keep the pad fixed to the piston, the other ones are the outside facing pads.

So you should have:

4x Front pads (2 with metal bits)
4x Rear pads (not necessarily any with the metal bits like the fronts, just the guides..)

No probs mate, remember to give your pistons a bit of the old wire brush to get rid of the old crap that's built up and wind your rear pistons in a good way as they'll self adjust when you replace the new pads

A smidge of copper slip (anti-seize compound) onto the mating surfaces and on the bolt threads before replacing will make changing the brakes easier in the future.

Cool, is that the same as copper grease?

I'll grab some during the week

I got some brake cleaner when I painted my callipers, should I give the breaks a good spray and wire brush after taking the old bits off?

Brake cleaner is only really useful when you're replacing the discs as the discs are supplied with an oily film to prevent corrosion in storage.

Just check your discs for damage and wire brush the edges where there may be flaky bits of corroded metal.

If you use brake cleaner, just put a bit on a lint free cloth and give the discs a quick wipe

I've always replaced both discs and pads together even if the discs are OK, it's just habit. Expensive though...

Let us know how you get on

Will do

May invest in someof the EBC turbo grooved ones in the future if they aint to bad a price, or just OE ones. They are the most important ones

Turbo grooves just dissipate heat a little quicker. Probably not really necessary. But they do look nice

So I finally done my breaks today

All went well, took ages to do the 1st one, a front pad, because of the stupid clip thing took ages to get back on But worked out how to do it in the end

Only thing is I scratched all the paint on the calliper Oh well, it gives me an excuse to re-paint them, I'm not a fan of the white any more Prob go red, I reckon that'll go well with my plans for the future - black wheels

Yh wasn't so bad, it took me ages to get the hang of the 1st one then it all went quickly for the 2nd one, just those bleeding clips had me tearing my hair out

Nah didn't do the rears, got a bit hot so went round the pub This weekend tho And a good clean/polish/wax too

I think I need to take some brake fluid out tho, it had nearly overflowed when I had finished the fronts

Haha keep an eye on it as you go
If it does get very close all I did was get some kitchen roll and stick it in the filler, drains away only a tiny bit that way each time
