Sadly I am going to be putting my ST up for sale after only 3weeks of ownership as I am not enjoying driving it

I am very dissapointed as I had high hopes for the car...but its just not delivering.

May try an RS Focus but I think my heart lies with Honda and it will be a DC5 Integra Type-R (same model as BTCC cars)

Good luck with your cars and I may still nose on as my Dad picks up his brand new black one Saturday

What aspect(s) did you not like then? Relative lack of power in comparism to the Honda? - As of course they're completely different cars!

Get an RS!!! Not an Integra!!

I am going to drive the RS but I am not convinced it will be better than the Integra..they are simply awesome cars to drive.

As for the Fiesta..the handling isn't great, the performance is very lacklustre and dull, no way does it feel like a car with 150ps..but then it is very heavy.

As for the depreciation..I got it for a very good price..so should be ok...we'll see

Im not saying the RS will be better to drive than the Teg, but personally I'd prefer the RS cos its an RS! But the new Teg is amazing. Not td it tho..

I'm suprised you think the handling in the Fiesta isn't much cop. I was impressed.

Good luck with reselling it at a good price though

I want to keep an open mind on the RS until I have tried it too...it does sound very good though.

The Fiesta is good...don't get me wrong..its just not special if you know what I mean, it does everything well..but doesnt excel at anything..maybe I was expecting too much from it.

My Integra was special (but then being voted best handling FWD car it was always going to be), my Clio Williams was special and my 205 GTi was special.. I miss that edgy tenacious handling

got to admit the power is abit for a downer but the handling i would have to totaly dissagree with u on, the handling s almost spot on not many cars around either in its group or higher can handle as good as the ST!!

u r saying u might go for an RS hmmm strange when the ST has beaten it around the ford test track ( i spell the track name so i aint even gonna try)

just getting me to wonder thats all

and if u do go for a teg well that in a toaly differant group anyway its as good as trying to match the ST with an EVO lol

yeh dirk is right. i think the ST's times weren't tooooo far off the RS, but the RS is in another class. The RS would be 'special'. I can see what you mean about the ST doing everything 'well' but not being 'special' tho.

I think you picked a bad time to sell the ST, whether people like the facelift or not that's what you get if you order new, the prices newer "old" Models are already tumbling, can't see the ST faring any better. Good Luck

But i have a fiesta sports series brocure that went out to dealers for information before the launch and it said it matched the time of the ST170 round the T track. Surely the official word from ford is correct , as how good a selling point would it of been for them if it could beat the RS.

Wow! that is quick! Must be because of that huge amount of power going through the front wheels of the RS causing a lack of grip.

dunno how or why, but i knew i had it down somewhere, mainly the handling, was the big factor on why the St was only around half a second slower i knew i'd get there int he end

Does anyone know the weight of the Focus RS as unless its a lot heavier than the ST (which itself is heavy at 1137kgs) with the RS having another 70ps and an LSD which will make a massive difference on track I find this very hard to believe.

The Focus RS fairs similarly to a Civic Type-R on track..doing marginally better because of the LSD. The Integra Type-R on track is quicker than the Civic, and having just sold an Integra I can assure you there is no chance with best the will in the world the Fiesta would be half a second slower than a Teg on any track, the Fiesta is heavier has less power and no LSD!!

As I said its a good little car, and the handling is pretty good...but it aint class leading..you need to look towards the French small hatchbacks for that.. Clio Cup, 106 Gti...

Interesting thread.

Sorry to hear you're disappointed with the ST Raffe, although I can kind of see where you're coming from. The ST is a good car but its far from class-leading and in terms of outright entertainment its beaten hands-down by a number of older (invariably French) cars. For the money you'd struggle to find much better though.

I don't think the Focus RS is necessarily the way forward, The Dude is right, apparently the Fiesta ST is "nearly" as quick as the RS around Lommel simply because it has masses more grip. The Focus is too keen to spin its wheels on track and you end up getting nowhere, hence the comparatively similar times.

Have you thought about the new Focus ST?

New Focus St isn't too my tastes adn if I was spending that sort of money I would be lookign at secondhand 350Z's or S2000 GT's

We'll see..picking up a Civic this weekend as a runabout so I can decide what I am gonna do with the ST

Sorry to hear that your selling your Raffe..But they are two good cars you are considering! And id say quite a hard decision on which one to chose!
On Looks they are both fantastic and on Power they are aswell, Id say the Teg pushes abit more though!

Good Luck on the decision Raffe and whatever you decide to get im sure you will love it! They are both Cars

I do like the current 'Teg, it does look particularly cool in the BTCC and stuff. Its a crying shame that Honda don't officially sell them over here as there's a huge market for that sort of car.

Yeah but they're all imports so they invariably cost you loads more to insure.

No they can't and wont...not sure where you got that info from??

The only way to get hold of the DC5 Integra is via an importer.

They have been telling you porkie pies mate sadly...

I can tell you on good authority they want no part of it...I have a number of friends myself that have tried adn ended up going through an importer...seems ridiculous with how well they are doing in the BTCC too..but hey ho

Oh and a quick update...after a chat with the gf and a quick browse through a copy of Fast Ford and the modded ST in there...I think I am going to give the ST a bit more time...and maybe do a few little mods..

I have a set of Eibach springs on order to just lower the stance a bit and hopefully make it look a little more aggresive

Yup I agree...I have yet to find a decent dealership salesman yet that actually knows anythign about the products they are selling.

I am quite worried as I noticed there are quite a few mods available...and that famous name Cosworth has passed my lips more than a few times this weekend
