right as per a few topics on the rs forum ive come to here your advice as i know a couple people have 1 and know people in ford, theres around 4 people on the forum saying there inlet manifold on thier mk2rs has gone pop! while drivign at low speeds which causes brake failure and can be very dangerous!!!! apparently its a certain build date thats affected but why and why is this not all over the news??? also since when do cars go pop at low speeds!!?!?!? any info please

It's a very tiny number of cars i know of 6 in Europe. It has been in a few local papers but not the major news. It's not like the toyota cock up. Stop worry so much azz. Pop into your dealer or ring them up and ask.

Azz you need to stop worrying, every single model of cars have has their niggles and if you're going to continue worrying this then in all honesty you may as well change your car for something else before your hair goes grey!!

If it happens at low speed, just drive really really fast everywhere you go?

booked in for the update for thsi coming monday, but ive come to understand the inlet menifold is the black plastic rectangle on top of the engine correct, and the reason it goes pop is due to it being made from plastic, and when the engine backfires and pops out of the exhaust it also goes forward to the inlet and this in certain cases is whats caused it to go boom correct? although nobody is mentioning they have modded there car when its gone pop i think they are lying as ford would not fit it with a plastic inlet if it was not strong enough. so only cause of going pop would be aftermarket mods and im thinking maybe dumpvalve? messing up the vacum and the returning compressed air to the inlet being either incorrect or insufficient or too much, just my non mechanical assumption, so will anyone whos has gone pop admit if they actual had done any mods to it????????? as i mean 6 out of like 11000 is too small of a number to be a problem

Azz Azz Azz ... YES the very few people who have had this problem have had it go on unmodded cars! I've seen cases of it happening on almost brand new 500 mile RSs and well and properly run in ones of 4,000 miles...

Ford wouldnt fit something thats not very strong?? Are you KIDDING?? lol Do you know how many people who own Fiesta STs have had the gearboxes explode? Not when they were racing it either and not always on modded cars too!

what does your bf think? is he not worried? and no ive never heard of anybodys gearbox going on their st, i ragged mine to death for like 14k miles and not a sniff, and also my mum has owned one for 3 years with no trouble, she just swapped it yesterday for a new shape zetec s:)

They will fit it with things that are too weak....error of judgement, miscalculation, unexpected events etc
My dads car, everything needs uprating ok its not a mass produced car but they are still made and sold all the same

I must admit he is almost as worried as you are because he wants to mod the RS but then he's worried that despite the best will in the world sh*t still goes wrong. One minute he wants the 350 kit and then he's almost decided against it.. basically it comes form owning modded (his ST) & unmodded (both Meganes) cars that went wrong in some form or another.

lol well if he gets the mt kit its all covered under warrenty anyway and im sure by the time its out of warrenty if not now you can get an alloy construction intake manifold so therefore no pop

so is the rs problem just like the fiesta problem? and seen as i didnt know about the fiesta problem and didnt worry about it should i stop worrying about my rs, just gave it a good boot past ford at ermmm around 8* mph:D

yea you should really get rid of the 8 as it implies your doing 80+
