Noticed my air con isnt working now, just blows air out, turned it on, no cooler, turned it off, same air coming out. Anyway any suggestions and is it covered by warranty? mine expires next month so if so need to get it done asap.

ermm if it needs a regas then it wouldnt be warranty i dont think. if its lost gas and they find a leak, then it would be warranty. if its something mechanical such as pump, compressor etc faulty then it would be covered warranty. well thats how we do it at the place i work anyway lol

aircons need servicing for filters and gas. as scotty said, if this is the case then no this will not be covered by warranty as it is wear and tear

cheers lads. Does anyone know if when my front bumper was stolen any damage could have been done to the air con? or is it not really anywhere near that?

Also if it is a regas any idea how much the cost is for that? I could well do with it working yesterday and today haha.

never really looked under bonnet of ST cos not got mine yet, so dunno if its anywhere near bumper. as for cost, we charge £69 i think and thats at bmw. so i'd prob say £40 at a garage or kwikfit or somewhere like that

Mines broke and the wire to the air con was split so easy fix.

Can u hear the pump kick in when u switch it on?? If not then the pump is gone or wire is cut.

If the pump is going but just no cold air, you'll prob need air con recharge kit.

Buy this, good stuff: -

You can usually buy this stuff of ebay for half price!!

You should hear it click, feel through the clutch pedal, or on idle the revs will drop very slightly when it clicks
When my RS is just starting up on idle it almost stalls it

When u switch her on, you shud hear the air con kick in, like a fan motor switchin on!! If there is no extra noise, then the pump is either broke or there is loose wire!

Switch her on at fan speed 1 and listen for a extra noise from the front. Shud kick in afta 5 secs at most!

ok thanks, will try this tonight. I phoned ford and they said it more than likely needs gassing and the only way to find out of there is a fault is to regas it they put some dye in it which in a few weeks will show if there are any other problems. They say if there is, i will get my £65 back, otherwise i wont as re-gassing isnt covered under warranty. Sound right?

I phoned an independant garage and they said it shouldnt need regassing yet??

Depends on useage, if its not used every month then it will need redoing, I have also heard generally they need redoing every 3 years

Why would you need to use Air-Con for heat? Surely you just use the heater/blower? Or am I just being stupid?!

Just so that you can run it, also some cars have it set on as standard, remember someone moaning about it as they kept forgetting to turn it off and it was running their MPG

if the pump doesnt click it is more than likely to be lack of gas, they have pressure sensors in them so when there is no pressure it wont give a feed to the clutch to engage it the click noise you here, an easy way to find out if you have gas is take a torx scredriver ( best as it is a flat end) find the filling caps take one off then inside its a trye valve, poke the screw driver in and give it a light tap, this will let a little bit of gas out, it wont hurt your hand etc, but it will be very cold, if it isnt cold then you only have air inside. which means you need a regas.

hope this helps!

ok, well i am not sure if this is it, but i turned my car off at work today and listened to the engine and after a few seconds it makes a click noise as if something has turned off. is this the air con? I have it booked in for a regas saturday anyway now, and also a before warranty expires check. Good service that i thought from Benfield just seeing if anything needs doing in warranty before it expires.

well all done now and my air con as cold as you like shame its cold outside now haha. Got to go back in couple of weeks to see if there are any leaks. They are going to replace my dodgy cd player too in warranty - they best not give me the new MP3 one instead. I want my 6CD changer still.

Guys, just spoke to Ford and seems air con recharges are covered under warranty until the first service, not after.

On this note I will be looking to recharge it myself. Anybody tell me how to do it? I have recharged other vehicles before, but I need to locate the high pressure nozzle on the Fiesta. I believe the low pressure nozzle is just on top of the front grill, but where is the high pressure side?

Thanks.
