The accelerated no claims bonus can be taken to other companies if you choose to change at the end of the policy term, My price was a full 12 month policy, sorry should have metioned that earlier.

As far as I'm aware, the accelerated NCB through Elephant/Admiral can't be transferred to anyone outside of that group, that's why its a bit pointless really as they'll no doubt whack the insurance up when the renewal comes round...

I'm paying £520 for mine with Peugeot Insurance (don't ask). That's me only, 27, 8 years' NCB, 3 points. I won't bore you with the other details but its about half as cheap as I can find it anywhere else. I've shortly got to add the missus on mine which will add about another £100.

Funny you should say that, I am on DarkHayz's insurance and that actually reduced it by £50. Mmmm i'm not sure how these companies work out their policies.

You can use the NCB for the 10 months at about 90% of other insurance companies, I have already done it with a years NCB i got from Admiral.
Also if the more people you add to your insurance the cheaper it gets, I added my mum and dad and it brought it down by £75 or so.

The only reason that adding the other half to mine is costing me more is because she's only got a provisional licence... Should go down once she's passed her test.

Its funny the way that some insurers reduce the premium if you add certain types of drivers (even if they may never actually drive the car). My brother has just bought a Citroen C2 GT and is looking to get insurance on that, he ran a quote through Elephant for just himself and it came to £600+, I told him to run a quote through with our mum as a named driver and it reduced it to £430! WTF is that all about?

No idea mate, dont understand it at all but i'm not worrying about it, just wish i had more people to add to it, might have to find a long lost auntie or something and see if that brings it down any more!!

I think it goes along the lines of:

If your mum/dad or someone with experience is driving the car, that means that YOU are going to be driving it less. Therefore discount is given to you.

Put someone on with little experience and the risk doubles, i.e you and someone who is likely to spank the car up therefore price goes up.

....Anyone work for an insurance company on here???

Bit naive of the insurance companies though don't you think? In my book it just means the car will be doing more miles therefor there is a higher chance of making a claim.

Was gonna say the same thing as, when my brother added my Dad to the policy, it went back up again. Oddly, my mum doesn't have any no claims bonus whereas my dad has got like 30 years' worth!
