the episode you are talking about along with all other episodes of top gear are set up. i do love the show but i know how they make them. they have also just filmed a new episode for next series near me in sheffield and a bloke who ownes a garage rented it out to them for the show and got to see all the stuff between cuts that would ruin it for most people.
back to the point anyway. my comp said 23miles to go when i got home the other day and when i went out in the morning it said 0 and never came back up so i dont trust the zero that much

its probable the same as a non digital one- like if you park on a hill it says you have more/ less petrol than you do. Probably because all the petrol drains to one side of the tank and tricks the sensor?

yea i live on a slight hill and my mate would always come round and park in my driveway so he could get petrol. well until he got back on the road and realised my house aint a petrol station. i wouldnt trust it. once it gets to quarter i like to fill it up

mine usually gains about 10mpg when i turn the engine on. On my old focus the trip computer used to go up dependin on how i was driving so i used to gain as i was goin along
