Ok people, so due 3rd year service and first MOT this month, few questions:

- For Leeds what kind of price should i be looking at for the service? I have phoned ford garages and prices ranged from £210 up to £253 all inc VAT. Should i just get the £210 one done? And is this about right for a 3rd year service?

- With my MOT, if it is officially 3 years old on 23rd June, then do i need it MOT and passed by 23rd June at the latest or is there any leeway. If it was booked in but for say 25th or 26th June etc, is this ok in the eyes of the police if i was stopped as it is booked in?

Cheers

You do get a few days if you've booked it already

There is no leeway! You would only be insured and legal if driving to the MOT station at the time.

+1 you can only drive it if you are on the way to the test place

It sounds about right, Ford Garages are a rip off though - if you have any specialists in your area they might be worth trying in the future.

do you mean individual dealerships? Does it ruin the trade in value of my car if i dont have a ford service stamp in my book, if it was say an independant garage? Cheers

The law is changing re:servicing - car manufacturers cant hold back service information, technical diagrams etc from regular garages anymore so they will be just as good - just ask if they have the relevant diagnostic kits as obviously they might not buy the stuff for each car manufacturer!

On a Fiesta it wont matter a jot about the Ford stamp when you trade it in, on a BMW or Merc maybe - but even then, if you used a BMW or Merc specialist it wouldnt make a difference.

Does everyone just get their service done at the same time as their MOT? (providing you've done under 12,500 miles)
And how much is it generally? obviously not taking into account the extra parts etc you might need!
