Went to get new brake fitted today, but they coundn't get my locking nut off and completely f**ked the loking nut key in the process . They tried for about half an hour with various tools / socket sets but cound'nt get the little f**kers off. Anyone know how to get these off without the key?

Can't wait 4 weeks for Ford to get a new key for me, as brake are almost down to metal!!!

if you go to some garages they hava a master key which can unlock most locking nuts. i only know this as my mate works in a garage.

When I got my Corsa the stupid garage never gave me the locking wheel nut key!! Of course I never really though about it at the time, but sure enough after about 2 months I got a puncture!
Anyway long story short I got it back to a vauxhall garage and they had to drill the bolts off! Left a few marks on the alloys which I wasnt pleased with and for the trouble I got the dealer I brought it from to pay for the lot and a new tyre and a new set of locking wheel nuts. (I made sure I got the key this time tho!!)

So i rekon u may have to get them drilled, but make sure u get to pay for the trouble! and make sure they are carfull on your alloys!

Well it was Kwik-Fit who f**ked it up, I did take to a ford garage for them to have a look, the guy thinks he can fix the key (for £10) so I left it with him. Otherwise they say they can get the nuts off for £15 a wheel
I will also need a new set of nuts. Kwik fit have agreed to pay for the new set of nuts but not the work to get them off. Wait and see what happens tomorrow.

I've had to leave a sign on my dash "CRAP BRAKES" so I don't go steaming into a corner

F**king nightmare as the cars going in a few months.

A little damage, but all where it's hidden by the centre cap.
They already had a few marks on them anyway.

Why didn,t they use a bolt extractor.Where you drill and tap the offending bolt with the opposite thread i.e when you tighten it extracts the stuck bolt.

I don't know Peter, I assume they just didn't have one. They didn't charge me for the work involved, which the 3 other garages I asked all wanted to.

PM your address, goods may take 28 days to be delivered.
The organiser of the competition reserves the right to slightly alter the spec (I only have coloured ones on my desk)

Take you pick from Red, White, Black, Pink, Yellow or Blue

Not at all, hopefully others will find the thread useful if they ever find themselves with a damaged locking wheel nut key and also amusing. We're merely providing service with a smile.
