just purchased one of these, but i need to unlock it.. seen some websites can do it for you for a fee..

but if anyone knows how or has a guide or anything that would be awesome..?

Who is it locked by?

O2, and i have an Orange simcard

What you need to do is get a mate on O2 to put there sim in it and make a couple of calls, then get them to request it to be unlocked on the o2 website, but this takes 14days
Or they do it for a non o2 customer for £15

Or what I'm going to do in a minute is jailbreak it, then there is a jailbreak app that means its unlocked

Ahh right decent, well im going to pick it up now, then il do some proper investigating.

Can you let me know how u get on jailbreaking yours? how easy/hard it is etc. Ideally want OS4 software on it if i can.

Is alot harder now than it use to be

blackrain, does it straight away, i did it the other week but put it back to normal because it slows the phone down loads

Doesn't look like I can do mine as it has the newer bootrom on it

you cant do it with any newer software than 3.1.2

you can unlock 4.0
But you can't unlock any iphone 3gs made after week 40/with the new bootrom
The iphone 4 seems to already of been done

I guess I'll just have to wait for o2 to sort it out

just got back with my new iPhone

it is running 4.0.

had a look on web, but havent found a way of unlocking it just yet...

Hampo you need to find out if you are running the newest bootrom, search online and it will tell you how to find out
If your running the new bootrom then it can't be jailbroken
