Just got a quote for £1494, exhaust declared, parked on road, 3years NCB
Or £1510 if I park it on the drive :S
Or £1700+ if I have the tracker activated :S

Thats just mad!

I absolutely hate ALL insurance companies, bloody rip-off murchants.

My guess with the Tracker fitted is that the Police would have to charge the insurance company for their time etc.

So why bother with a Tracker! Who would want their motor back after being thraped, trashed and abandoned anyway.

I know this is going to open up a can of worms, but hey, who likes getting ripped off.

when i was 21 and had my 3 door cossy my insurance would only insure me if i had a tracker fitted, not worried that it was 380bhp and i had been done for driving without due care, if i remember right it cost £1200.

That does seem a bit odd. With regard to the first bit, all I can think is that it's something else that might help the insurers get of paying, i.e. if they find out that it's been parked on the drive, particularly easy if it gets broken into or like Kevs car rammed into outside the house, then the insurers can say it hasn't been parked where you said it would and say the insurance is invalid.

I'm 24 and have been driving 7 years now.

Did another quote and when I turn 21 it will be £950 with 3yrs NCB
But it won't be parked outside my house every night
Sometimes I stay at the gfs etc so surely where you say its parked over night is just a majority thing?

Indeed. This is a strange one.

Chris' post jogged my memory here.

I did Julies insurance on line and said that her car would be parked off the road, which is possible at my address, but on the evening when she got it wrote off, it was parked on the road outside our house, the insurance didn't question it.

If they were to question it, i would simply of said she was visiting a neighbour.

I think, on the road, off the road, on the drive can all be dissmissed on a claim. The big one would be Garaged, and even then, so long as you have a garage this too could be dissputed on a claim.

Insurance companies do take the mick,I currently drive an Astra VXR (standard 240 bhp), insurance is £600/year, i have just P/Xd for a fiesta ST (and some money back), so called insurance for a new quote, expecting money back and they say no sir thats £26 admin fee and no money back. I said i only just took policy out 4 weeks ago, how can you charge me the same for my new car when its worth less, lower insurance group etc.. They still say no money back and try telling me fiesta st is higher insurance group tha VXR?! I just said no! I want to cancel my policy, so the will charge me cancellation fee etc, but i still get back £420. To make it worse I go back on their site (admiral) and the quote for the fiesta st is £350!!! they are just money grabbers! - All i wanted was a fair deal....

I found the same thing with admiral. Roadside was cheaper than a drive or garage. It doesn't make sense. I suppose roadside might be more overlooked than a driveway?
