You can use an alterative engine oil meeting Ford Spec of: WWS-M2C913-B (Petrol and Diesel)or WWS-M2C913-A (if petrol engine) and 5W-30 viscosity. It's in the handbook, page 155.

I will do once i feel it's been bedded in fully, cos as you know once you put in synthetic oil it wont "bed in" as much and may not be fully loosened up. For me i'll change to synthetic about 3-6k miles, but will change the oil inbetween with Ford oil.

Ford seem to be supplying them with stingey amounts of oil + they do use a bit for the wearing in period. Just top it up.

Are you taking it in for a courtesy check at 1500 miles/ 3 months??

If you are the dealership can check if there is anything wrong.

What shall I top it up with, im no good with all this I have Castrol GTX at home?

The dealer said he would call me around December for a check up, but in 1 and a half months i've already done 1200 miles, so I think I need to book in soon.

Its 5w-30 oil my dealership uses semi-synthetic oil.

You can pretty much booked the courtesy check when you want.

worth doing though.

Thanks for the warning Darkrose,, i went straight out and checked my oil lvl,,, fortunatly a mate of mine did my PID on the car b4 it was handed over, so my oil is still 'A' OK.

If you want to buy the oil yourself and still stay within the warrenty,, look on page 155 of your handbook for the correct Oil spec given by Ford.

That's really strange. I've now done nearly 6000 miles and I have never had to top it up. It has not used ANY of it. I'm not planning on changing it any sooner than Ford recommends either. Dealer told me to just bring it in at 12000 or after one year, whichever deadline occurred first. Looks like the yearly deadline will be the one.

Same here, at nearly 5000 miles there appears to be no change to mine whatsoever.
