So basically i have a Ford Fiesta Zetec, and i want an AUX input like what the st has next to the lighter and gear stick, so i can play songs from my iphone. Earlier i was researching how i could do it because im absolutely clueless when i comes to this sort of stuff.

This is what my interior look's like

Obviously the AUX input is the other side of the gear stick, but i couldn't find a different picture, Hopefully somebody can help me out,

Cheers in advance, George.

as for wiring in terms of power you just need a wire that goes on with the radio to go to the positive of your aux and another for earth. But I have no clue how to wire it with the stereo so that it does its job =S

you can either order a kit from ford or connects 2 through halfords. i believe it plugs into the "quadlock" stereo loom on the back end of the standard stereo. think the connects 2 kit will leave the aux point in the glove box. preety much just plug and play really. the ford kit would require drilling the centre console if you wanted it by the gear stick

Put it in the glove box to make your life easier, I am thinking of moving my AUX there along with a power supply.

i think it would be easier to switch songs if it's in the centre then i wouldn't have to get a real long ipod adapter from the glove box. ill have a look on halfords, compare the two, best to go with the easy option

I did this, it's a piece of piss. Disonnect battery. Take the radio out with some keys (ebay, £3 from Hong Kong). There's a white thing connected to the back. Unplug it (it was stiff, get some needlenose pliers to grip it and yank. Plug your new white connector thing in where it came out. Feed the wire down the hole where the radio came, and poke it downwards.

Unscrew the gearknob, then use a spoon/butter knife to ease the circle thing around the bottom of the gear gaitor off (the black bit, not the silver). Your gearstick is now just a pole.

Get a drill with the size hole you need and drill through next to the charger thing. You can feel underneath through the gear hole and it is empty, so you won't hit anything, just don't do it too close to the gear gaitor circle thing you took off.

Work the wire down behind the radio until it eventually pokes out at the back where you can see in the gear hole. Some people take the side panels off by your feet - this is a bitch to do, dont' bother, and the screws will break. it took about 10 minutes of wiggling but it came down in the end.

Grab the end, pull it through. The wire comes with an aux socket, stick that through your drill hole and it will click in place (you get 1 shot at this, it won't come back out). Connect the end of the wire into the bottom of teh aux socket. Reassemble your car. Reattach the battery.

This is what you want mate- comes with instructions. I did it on my ST- hardest part was drilling the hole and taking the radio out.

As long as you have the right stereo removal keys its a piece of cake. As for drilling the hole, when you take the centre console off, turn it upside down and there is a little indent in the plastic (where the hole would have been drilled on the models with the aux input) so you just cut it out. Its relatively simple as long as you have the right tools- pm me if you need any help

I'm having one fitted this week by Kempster Ford in Heywood, Lancashire.

They're charging half an hours labour. I'd fit it myself but, I currently have no spare time at present!

Should get parts and labour for £45-£50.

Can't wait to listen to my iphone.

Keep us posted on how you get on with the fitting.

You literally just need stereo removal keys, a phillips screwdriver and a drill with a 20mm bit. Take radio out, attach cable to the back of the radio unit, feed the other end down through the back of the radio housing and past the side of the steering wheel unit. Take off the side panel, cable tie (provided) the cable to the side of the bottom of the centre console then attach the other end of the cable to the aux input which just clicks in place to the hole you've drilled. How to remove the gear stick and centre console is in the instructions. The most confusing part was where to put the wire to get it down to near the gear stick.
Anyway it took me about 30mins with no clue what to do other than the instructions so with the help off here it should be a piece of cake
