I've just realised that this is a 4 hour drive and I don't finish work on saturday until 5. I may have to give this a miss

Where does it say this was a Camping meet? It says "Matlock Meet", and I'm sorry, but there is no way I am getting very little sleep in a tent in a field for 2 nights and then taking charge of Children on Monday morning. It will be very cold and to be fair it is my decision to stay in a hotel. Not "Whimping out", it's common sense, I'm not Ray Mears!

im not just a bit pee'd off that there are 12 names down for the meet and now half are in a hotel, when the original idea was camping and why i put my name down for the fun of it, if the group is split into two places i cant see it being as good as it could be tbh

That may be the case mate, but I'm not the only one to make the sensible decision to change. At the end of the day it's personal preference and if you think everyone is changing to hotel accommodation then why not join us? In my eyes there is nothing "fun" about staying in a tent when it is freezing cold, windy and raining which it WILL be like in October. There will be a lot of fun going down at that hotel I can assure you, we will be tearing that place up to bits! A nice meal and a bar followed by banter in nice warm surroundings is more like me mate. And if you don't like that, not a lot I can do but I am DEFINITELY not camping and I know a few more people will be booking very soon. By all means stick the "original plan" if there was one, but I don't need to explain MY decision not to be stupid.

i understand your reasons Stu. but i cannot afford £70 for a hotel for 2 nights, petrol and eating out all weekend, a few quid a night for camping, buying some burgers and other food to cook was fine and some fun.

so if it turns out camping is off the agenda i can no longer attend!

Camping isn't off the agenda buddy, I just don't do camping in crap weather! You can't afford it.... haha I've seen all your threads about mods!!!!!! lol
