Just out of curiosity, I thought it would be nice to find out what cars people have had pre   The first & only car I bought before the ST was an R Reg Fiests zetec (colour:blue) only has 26k miles on it (yes you can all laugh now)well I hardly used it lol, still have it but will be getting rid of it after xmas.

Great list of cars Raffe, you have had some of the finest hot hatch's ever made. How does the Clio Williams compare to the ST? Which has been the best you have owned Pug GTI, CLIO, Integra Type R or the ST in terms of all round ability?

I am really sorry to say this but I think its the cars I have previously owned that have left me very dissatisfied with the ST sadly...I have sold it to a dealer and goes at the end fo the month. Out of the 4 cars you have mentioned its trailing behind in 4th 
The ITR and Williams were by far the two best cars I have owned..the ITR excelled on fast A roads and at bigger speeds where as the Williams was simply outstanding on B roads...and I find it hard to imagine any other hatch that could give it any kind of run for its money. The Williams was torquey and revved smoothly and well, where as the ITR lacked torque but the ultimate power it had once in vtec was awesome..and as for the sound..if you have never been in an old school Honda vtec..you are seriously missing out 
The 205 was also amazing but I always felt it was a little twitchy feeling, and likely to bite you back at any point...although this is a common trait of Peugeots. Power wise it was very powerful from low down the rev range and was a hoot to drive.
With the ST I think the steering is a little detatched feeling although the intial turn in is very impressive. I am unhappy with the driving position as I feel you sit far too high in the car...and as for the power, very dissapointing for a car of this type. I think most of the problem there is the weight of the car as its a real porker  The thing I think the ST lacks the most is aggresion..it just feels far to docile for my liking

Of cars I actually personally owned:
1) Mk5, 51 plate, Fiesta Flight (1.3L)
2) ST!
Before my mk5, I drove a 1.3L automatic Austen Metro (Austen! That's how old it was!) and a 1L Fiat Uno 45 Fire (*rrrrrr* but god I loved that car!).

I had an 02' reg Audi S3, silver 225bhp, BOSE sound system....sniff sniff, had to sell it to get married. Before that i had a 51 reg ford focus. heres my baby..

I really like those old style Imprezas Freestyle. ST is nice but you must have been sad to see it go. As for me here goes: 1. 1990 VW Polo 1.3 (new and slow) 2. 1989 VW Polo G40 (great engine but crap handling) 3. 1992 Clio 16V (new) 4. ???? Ford Capri 2.0 (sold it after 2 weeks) 5. 1988 Volvo 240 GL (not much fun) 6. 1989 Paugeot 309 GTI (very twitchy and fun) 7. 1987 VW Golf Syncro (endless gearbox problems) 8. 1991 VW Passat GL (great for just doing miles) 9. 1992 Clio 16V (still own this one) 10. 1992 Sierra Cosworth 4x4 (cam belt failure 11. 2005 Fiesta ST Raffe I owned 2 Clio 16V's (still own one) and being very close to the Williams I couldn't agree more on the comments you made about it. Also what you were saying about the 205... I owned a 309 GTI and what you were saying about the handling was spot on, although the 309 with its longer wheelbase was IMO a little less twitchy - but they were so much fun!

My gf had a Clio 16V at the same time and I used to drive both cars all the time, there wasnt a huge amount of difference, the handling just wasnt quite as tight and it had slightly less torque..other than that a great car. 
As for the 309, totally agree with you that the handling was better..totally awesome...just a shame it was the 205's ugly big brother
