you should not allow replies as its a how to section not really a part of the forum. if we just write out how to's and leave it at that then we we ould all get the info we were after and not have to sift through spam!

Agreed but if anything is helpful thats added by a post in the technical section then it would be good at have a mod update the thread.

I agree that IF we do go for a "How To" section then the threads would have to stick to the topic covered, but like you say Chris, useful additional material could crop up in the Technical Section. Perhaps this could be overcome by having it set-up so that only mods can reply to threads there, so that any updates/additional information could be added at a later date if necessary.
