R just means Radius... no 17 is fine... you will need to quote if you tyres say any other code... mine say "NCT 5"... if there is a code like this... write it down also!!!

NCT 5 is just the "model" of the tyre, isn't it a Goodyear?

Jonesy - if you're just replacing one tyre, I'd be inclined to stick with a Pirelli P Zero Nero. If you're not desperate for one then look on www.mytyres.co.uk. They're something like £76 delivered, you won't find cheaper than that.

You could look at the other tyres ,but don,t forget to specify the speed rating 84W.

tyre is 205/40 R17 (R meaning radial construction, as opposed to the old cross-ply type). Stick to Pirelli if you are changing just the one. I'm doing the same. I have found they are £76 at mytyres.co.uk, but they only supply tyres in pairs or all 4. I have ordered mine from blackcircles.com for £100.84 incl VAT and fitting with balancing/new valve etc.
