I see from the other post that my hard starting may be a common problem.

Anyone have any problems with:
- pinking in hot weather
- rattles from the steering through bumpy corners

as well?

Yeah I think i've had every single common fault with the ST possible

The pinking i've just started to get so i'm taking back into the dealership (this will be my 8th visit in 4 months) I think its probably the knock sensor

The knocking from the steering column when turning and accelerating over bumps is something to do with a PAS pipe knocking and causing it to go up the steering column. Ford are still waiting to decide how to repair this.

Ah, cheers.

Mine is new, knock sensor should be ok .

Maybe a bad tank of juice.

Take it easy and let everything settle down and if you still have the problem in a months time then take it back to the dealer!!!

It doesn't matter if its new.... you'll probably still have faults.

What octane fuel have you got over there?

I would advise getting it checked out as soon as possible. Because if you leave it too long and you get more and more faults and you get sick of Ford fobbing you off you have a better chance of rejecting the vehicle. Don't brush faults under the carpet get them fixed or attempted to be fixed.

Not that your car will necessarily have shite loads of faults it might be ok.

Mine isn't and I'm fed up with Ford and there russish processes. I have had 16 faults in 4 months and some are still not repaired as 'they dont know how to yet' or they are trying to find the cheapest possible repair at their convenience. I am vexed, cant even sell the car as i have to have it for 9 months..... not that i would be able to sell it with the amount of faults it has.

sorry going off on one for no reason. I'll stop now.

No worries, I don't blame you for being upset with all the probs you've had and the way you've been fobbed off so much. Just have to keep your fingers crossed that eventually everything will be OK.

93 would you believe (although it is at high altitude, so it works out to an equivalent of 95 at coastal altitude). We will be getting 95 next year. Yay .

Anyhow, I do tend to be a bit fussy. I'm sure these problems are not that serious and can be resolved.

Btw, anyone had problems with the CD player jamming when using CD-Rs?

That might cause the pinking, there might be something about the fuel setting that needs to be programmed.

There has been a few ppl saying about cd's getting jammed. If its err 3 its a mechanical error. sometimes if you press button 3 and 6 it will clear.

Amazingly I havn't had that problem :lol

Mine was well jammed. The dealer pulled the unit out last week, I should get it back this week. The idiots managed to break the heater controls while doing it. Idiots.

HI Roastie

The CD player thing is quite common (unfortunately) but it jams with CD-R's and originals so be careful, I've lost 2 originals already, one can get them out but they are usually damaged (better than taking it to the dealer who rip up the dash only to put a new unit in with exactly the same problem!!! design problem with ejection mech of the 6006 i think) besides that the car is awesome, a few minor niggles as you've mentioned but I had those and more with my audi too, cheers J

Jos, does it damage just the disc it jammed on or others in the unit? I had six in the unit at the time...

I had the err 3 up once when a disc jammed when ejecting.
I took matters in to my own hands and rammed another cd halfway in then took it out and it kick started the 6006 going again which ejected the jammed cd.
Had no problems since, and the cd still works fine.

HI Roastie, just the jammed one cos, like Chriss 22 says u push in another CD (sometimes it takes quite a few tries) and the 'in' & out scratches the jammed CD, so I only use CD-R's now (lost 2 originals aleady) but all 4 times its happened I've managed to get the jammed one out in the manner that chriss22 mentioned, I can then eject others no problem after that, ...tedious irritating etc but better than having yr car at ford for a few days where they literally rip yr dash apart (scratch stuff etc) and stick it all back with a 'new' unit and exactly the same problem all over again...cheers

the pinking problem is related to your air con. go out and turn all air con off and blower etc, and then listen for the noise. you shouldnt hear it then. i have the same problem its not a think u need to rush to get looked at, but when u go in for ur curtesy check or somethin just let them know about it.
