I don't have a problem with a donation, we have to remember other sites may not appear to require donations but often are paid for by sponsors advert banners and such and others by people who simply just pay out of their own pocket for their own reasons.
I would have liked to have seen a bit more notice so we can all have a bit more say.
As for donations, is this once a year every year, I donated at the last request so I hope I am covered to stay unblocked, others (like me) are not on PayPal so how do they donate, can our overseas members use PP ?
Would there be a lifetime donation ?

To answer your questions:

1. I do appologise about the notice. It has to be a quick thing else people would get used to it and it wouldn't be effective.

2. The paypal link has been updated by me today and i've got a business account so you don't even need a paypal account to donate. It can be done quickly and easily with a debit or credit card.

3. ALL members who have donated and are currently able to access the members section will not see their access change. Full access will continue through this period.

I'll come out and say it.

For the month of November this site will be worse than the stoc. Even on all the stoc sites you have some access to of the boards.

Members will be put off of joining because they have to pay. I'm sure alot of the members on here were put off of the stoc due to the membership fee.

The great thing about this site is it is free and runs on donations. So instead of excluding tons of people from joining having to pay why not re-arrange the boards short term?

Non donating members only have access to general discussion and the noob section? Some compromise is needed!

Will you be able to view everything on the site (obviously not members section) as a guest?

if you think about it though its not the case of getting people to pay, its making the forum less busy so its easyier to work on and to make better with new features, you dont have to donate its up to you but your donating for the privilege to use the forums when there been working on, obviously theyll be a notice for those wanting to join, that for a month if you want to join just donate a little, if you dont want to donate then youll have to wait a month for the improved forums to be free again, if that makes sense lol

I've made a small donation of £10. Sorry it's not more. I'll see what I can do when pay day comes along. I love this site
