get on the comparrison sites, use them all then ring a broker such as Adrian Flux or Chris Knott and often they will beat the lowest quote you get, if they cant beat it they will sometimes match it then give you extra bits like protected NCD, lower excess & free legal cover to win the deal

I looked around for a fair few weeks and the cheapest I got it was around £800
That was with Adrian Flux. I'm 26 with 4 years NC.

Manchester or nearby areas are bad postcodes. To insure my car at my south Manchester address was £3000+, but if I put my Fylde (Lytham/Blackpool) address it was £800. As I'm in Fylde 5 days a week for work I put that address (living there and working). But if I was still living permanently in Manchester there is no way I could have got my ST...and I'm in a very good area as well!
I've always wondered why I see a serious lack of hot hatches in Manchester compared to other places and now we know why.

Just to show why it's important to never just accept the renewal quote you're given...

My insurance is due for renewal and I'd been quoted £525 (last year I paid £495) and in the last couple of days I've been searching all the online sites and ringing round for quotes, and the cheapest I managed to find was £490. So I rang my insurer, Adrian Flux, to ask if that was the best deal they could get. I was on hold for ages and they came back and said yes, they couldn't go any lower. I then told them I wouldn't be renewing and they asked what was the best deal I could get. They then said they would have a word with someone else "just to check" £525 was the best deal. A few minutes later they were back and magically that £525 which had been the "lowest they could go" had suddenly reduced to £474.

oh one more thing I forgot to add;
Before I used to use price comparison sites to show me the cheapest company, then I would approach this company direct. Turns out it actually saved me over £150 going through the comparison site

The details on both were identical btw

So might well be worth using them
