Hi welcome, don't worry about petrol, if you are get a diesel or a 1.2 otherwise the ST is as good as any other car if you want, plenty of torque if you learn to use it and easy 30mpg and into the high 40's @ 60mph on motorway.

I use to get 34mpg, about 300-320miles a tank I think and £43 it cost me to fill (last year) And MPG is better than useing how much to a tank as some cars have bigger tanks, different fuel prices etc Got it up to 41mpg by shifting at 2k revs
