Rob it's a zoom panning technique. Start with the camera zoomed in. Begin to zoom out and press the shutter while zooming. A slower shutter helps, that was 1/4 second.

Great pics, did you get a good one of the moon saturday? I went out about half 6 and it was massive and low in the sky
