Hi guys,

I've recently just had a car crash, fortunately i wasn't the one in the wrong Some moron in a 4x4 landrover ploughed into me.

I used to/was driving a mint condition Celica GT-four 2.0 Turbo was about 467BHP it's now totaled im waiting for my insurance company to assess the damage but it's likely it's a write-off. Estimating i'll get about £2500 for it. shame since it's actual value is around about £6-8000 .

I'm currently 20 previously insured on my GT-four for £2700 full comp with Co-op insurance.

I'm thinking of getting a Fiesta ST for my next car i've seen a few on the roads they look pretty decent and well put together. Not fast but a decent hatchback that looks nice.

I'm going to view this one tomorrow in colchester link below

http://www.motors.co.uk/VehicleDetails.aspx?carID=20721163

Are they good for over-taking speeds 40-70mph?

Before i even go digging amongst insurance groups for quotes what do you reckon this would set me out for on insurance for 20 year old 2 years no claims?

Cheers

welcome along.
Pretty much in its best rev band at those speeds and will accelerate without changing down, drop it a gear and plenty enough. Room for an extra 50bhp with bolt on parts and remap, I like my Mountune Stage 1 which give me more torque and very easy overtaking or accelerating from low down, stage 2, adds cams, drop that a cog hit 4k and it flies, stage 3 out now for 200bhp. Can also add a supercharger for bonkers speed, some on here on running 300BHP.

I just got a quote last night for 640 with elephant. Shopping around after paying 680 with admiral last year.

21 with 3 years NCB.

Admiral is probably your best bet. It works out a lot cheaper to pay it in one go with them rather than monthly.

Cheers guys appreciate the help!

I've left a deposit going to get it next tuesday test drive sold it for me it is pretty fun to drive got used to it really quickly not to sure about the gear box?

is this a common problem as i noticed lower rev bands seem to be....metaphorically speaking a bulldozer trying to get out of a paperbox reaches rev limiter pretty quickly compared to my GT-four stock was a lot different.

But for a car that is 300bhp less more or so then my previous car it was really fun to drive!

un-believable Co-op are refusing to transfer my no claims to Admiral.

They won't explain why but it's policy, they want £3,400 to be insured on an ST.

what a bunch of w****rs.

Admiral quoted me fully comp £2,184 without no claims.

I'm fuming can insurance companies do that?

That's insurance companies for you

The only option that I think of is if you have a letter proving how many no claims you have. If not you could try ringing up the Co-op to get them to send you a letter proving your no claims. They may give it to you.

I had to get a letter from my previous insurance company to prove how many no claims discount I had, otherwise they wouldn't honour the quote.

They refused to send out or lease any information regarding my current policy with them therefore I'm unable to provide any evidences other then I was currently insured with them for 2 years.

To add salt to the wound this is what quote i could be paying for if co-op weren't so pathetic.

£1,386.67

I know why they are doing this its so they keep me paying premiums until im over 25 therefore making money for them.

i asked for a quote for a 1.6 zetec s (as a tester) they wanted £1,786.23.

Admiral £879.52.

Just LOL....

That's not right , if you have earned the no claims bonus then you should be able to have that in writing. The only other thing i could suggest is photocopy your insurance certificates and send them to your the new insurance company and see if they accept that.

I know im fuming, I'm looking through all my small print it says in not entitled to transfer any no claims until I have 3 years no claims as my insurance policy states.

I was told when I took it out on the phone that my policy entitled me to transferable no claims which I've acquired with two different cars, I transferred my first year to my Celica and they are saying I can't transfer them out of the company. Forcing me to stay which a more expensive quote. ST apparently is a higher risk car then my GT-four lol again my GT-four would literately tear up tarmac. In all fairness they didn't know it was modified tho

Try the financial ombudsman service. 1. complain to your bank, insurance company or finance firm
It's important that you complain to the business first and give them a chance to look in to your problem. They have 8 weeks to do this. We can help by contacting the business for you, if you would like us to.

phone our consumer helpline on 0300 123 9 123
8am to 6pm, Monday to Friday – we'll be happy to phone you back

email complaint.info@financial-ombudsman.org.uk
we will usually be able to deal with phone queries on the spot – so phoning might be quicker than emailing us
2. ask us to look at your complaint
If you're not happy with how the business has dealt with your complaint, you can ask us to look at it for you.

You will need to fill out our complaint form with the details. We can help you fill the form in (phone us on 0300 123 9 123).

Guys got it sorted soon as i said to them about reporting this to trading standards i was put on hold and then some bloke answered saying "mr lippitt your be glad to know that we are able to transfer your no claims however you must say insured with us with at least 1 vehicle otherwise they become invalid.

I agreed but wait....

I called up Admiral got the quote with 2 years no claims co-op faxed over documents, all insured now to go collect car tomorrow paid my insurance.

I've just cancelled my policy with Co-op....

I still hold 2 years 'valid' may i say no claims loving life lol!

I won't agree to be hustled by insurance companies.

Now need to plan my tuning and mods.

Nice one,

yeah all sorted your paying less cause you have you parents on the polciy probably have 4+years of no claims and have been driving for long time.

I eventually paid £1378 or something like that fully comp with 2 years no claims with admiral even have cover if i get hit by an un-insured driver for an extra £23.00

Also my bonnet release catch inside my car is not connect to the bonnet i can't get my hood open can anyone help me out with a DYI jobby?

or will i have to take it back to the dealership, whcih if im honest really can't be arsed with the long drive back.

I have just parked up and left my car locked.

Now my control panel with my mileage is still on including my Radio display screen and the lights have not turned off yet. I've just waited 15 minutes and they are still on.

This is draining my battery to my car?

please send some help ASAP or im going to have to disconnect my battery overnight until I can seek professional help tomorrow after work at the garage.

well when i brought the car it said it was stock no mods.

However it has a K&N air filter and i can see what I'd call tampering with injectors and it also has a milltek exhaust (sounded louder then in my opinion stock should sound like) however I'm still covered by my dealership with 2 years warranty but shouldn't it be invalid?

Sounds exactly the same in this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a0eUXiFTIps&feature=player_embedded
