Excellent. Wow if the ST is claiming 7.9s to 60, the RS will surely crack into the 6's

I'm more excited about the torquiness of that 2.0 four. It should be really good - much better than the 2.0 Zetec in my Focus ESP.

Read the whole article and i now i can't wait to get one, sounds stunning. Looks like the stripes are for a special glacier model or something, and performance blue will be available!
Perhaps the blue means no RS?
I don't think ford really need the RS model - as much as i would like them to built it - because the focus RS has done the job for it, increasing brand image.

The ST will be enough i think, and anyway, it will be nice having the fastest fiesta out there!

Has anyone pick up on the fact it also say 8 colours will be available...

Please say that means it will be available in Magnum Grey!

Personally, I dont think its a good sign for the RS though, I just have a feeling.

The torque of the engine in the new Fiesta is the same produced by the Focus ST170. That's good enough for me too!

One thing that did concern me was that 16" alloys are to be stardard, with 17" as options. All the pictures published so far appear to show cars with 17" wheels. But at the bottom of the article under specification, the Tyres(UK)lists 205/40R17. Then it gets confusing again as the next line says - (Wheels Rest of Europe) Alloy 7Jx17 inches.

Lets hope the sensible people are kept away from this car, and that the UK gets 17" alloys as stardard.

Yeah I'm also a bit confused with the alloy wheel situation, I will be VERY disappointed if they are not 17". I'll do a bit of chasing round see what I can find out about that.

I also noticed that regarding the performance blue colour, is that it is the same colour of that of the RS Focus! That's is different to that of the blue colour of the ST220! So that will look well cool!

No its a mistake in the article, it should read Performance Blue, as seen on the Mondeo ST220.

The Focus RS has Ford Racing Blue.

Jim is right about the colour.

I would expect the UK cars to have 17's as standard.

Basically Imperial Blue (my RS), otherwise known as Ford Racing Blue is much nicer than Performance Blue (my ST220)... in my opinion. Imperial Blue is a bit more purply.

All three colours are different (I've checked). Performance Blue is the least likeable of the lot (dammit) but it is still very nice. FRB and Imperial are ever so slighty different, FRB is ever so slightly lighter.

I would think 90% it would before the power band finishes.

If its anything like my 1.8 (i know my gear box is better than the 2.0 Focus) but it will be good!!!

Never really looked into the 1.8SRI... Looked at the concept 1.6 Turbo GSI that isn't coming out as i asked at the Motorshow. Whats it go like, build quality, reliability? Any of those issues why u want to move to Ford with the ST Fiesta?

Well i was the only Mod on and i havn't edited or del a post in about 4 months since there has never been need to ever do it. You probably types the post out, pressed continue in the reply screen and then clicked off. Make sure you click "continue" and then "OK" at the top when the screen refreshes. Will be interesting to hear your views if you could type it again? *sorry im a cheeky monkey*

Great news, hopefully it's to the dealer on 1st Nov to get an order in!! Need to decide on which colour first, seems to be too many blues that you guys are discussing!

I thought I might of done that, I'm used to forum on the vauxhall sports car club site which aint this clever!

Anyways.... the corsa....

good points first: it goes like you would not believe 0-62 in 8.0sec flat so almost identical to the ST and the top end is pretty similar. It has big buckets of torque steer which is pretty funny but not always ideal, it'll be good to see what the boys at ford have done seeing as the ST has loads more torque and runs on bigger wheels. Insurance is group 9, so it's a shame the ST is 13 when the performance is almost identical. Equipment in the SRi is great, cruise control, cat 1 alarm, recaro manufactured seats (their not branded as recaro's tho ) climate control, auto-dip mirror, auto windscreen wipers, auto interior night lighting....the list goes on. It looks great, especially when u put some goodies on it, i got tinted windows, front spoiler and irmscher sports exhaust system.

Bad points....fairly minor engine management problem which took 3 different dealers a very long time to fix (all it needed was a software update), brakes are very iffy possibly air in system due to over enthusiastic driving, minor damage to the interior, the alarm goes off randomly when gettin out the car and the gearbox needs to be replaced due to a manufacturing fault. Four attempts have already been made to fix it, including replacing the clutch So enough is enough, I'm now at the stage where I've issued the finance company with a county court claim to get my money back, should hear back in the next couple days, if all goes well the money i get back will be a deposit on the ST.

Sorry for the epic post, rant over

Interesting.

I guarantee that the ST will be absolutely miles ahead of the Corsa dynamically. I have driven a few Corsas and the handling is not very good at all compared to modern Fords. On the flip side, as you say, decent performance and I actually think they look quite tidy in hotted form.

I really can't wait to have a go in the ST to see how it compares. I'll be honest and say I don't like standard corsa's and especially the version before the facelift last november. Other corsas I've driven have been terrible, slow, crap brakes, crap steering the lot.

But the 04 model year SRi really is a great a car, massive amounts of front end grip and always puts a huge grin on my face. So if the fiesta is gonna be better, and by all accounts it will be, than it is gonna be an absolutely fantastic car
