Admiral are trying to charge me 140 extra on my renewal next week for just Eibachs. I put on the quote i have Full miltek system and K&N as i think they are a must to declare and that was 100 extra for them both. not too bad at my age. But now deciding on springs

im with Elephant but the same company!

i always do a standard car on an online quote! and then add the mods when you talk to them on the phone!

if i put the mods into a confused.com search its always over 2k

To be fair how can they prove I knew they were there before? I could just say thats how the car was when i purchased it and i assumed that was what a standard ST looked like.

Which "is the case here".

2 of my mates have claimed on their insurance in the past year and all the insurance company wanted to know was that they weren't ripping them off. They barely looked at the car, they didnt check any of their details (where they work etc) and they both had their payout

The insurance wont take ignorance as an excuse. The car is modified therefore your policy is invalid. You could get lucky and the car doesn't get scrutinised, or like in my case, they'll take a week examining the car to look for mods/reasons to not pay out.

depends on the case I suppose. And also depends what has happened to the car
yeah i guess they would say that but in fairness it probably has happened to some people so would be pretty unlucky! (take the guy who registered on here with a "Fully standard ST" now found out he has full miltek exhaust, k&n and 60mm throttle body etc etc)

Yeah totally dependent on the case. Was only something to consider mate, especially when it's so cheap to declare stuff anyway...

it is if you're with a company that allows you to mod the car lol
I'm omitting certain truths in other areas so i'm willing to take the risk

i had this with the repairer trying to screw me over! i wasnt happy with what he was going to do to my car!

i had a phone call from my insurance company telling me i had illegally modded my car...

the garage had told them my car had an exhaust system and was lowered over 60mm

(they say over 60mm's as they lined it up next to a standard fiesta and it was that much lower, stupid people not knowing the ST is lower to start with)

that was over a bumper scrape!

the insurance new about all the mods already though! they were just questioning how low the car was... which trying to explain to a women who noes nothing about cars that it only has different springs so cant physically be that low was a very difficult task!

the only reason the garage tried that was that when they saw the paperwork it said standard car as they must have got the original policy from when it was standard and i had added the bits later!
