But this car doesn't give reasonable MPG, its pretty bad i think and personally i wouldn't describe it as a all rounder family car.... but thats just my opinion

I think its an ok car if you have a family, I've had my two nieces in the back in car seats and it was no hassle to get them in or out because the doors are so wide

On the petrol consuption front, I've been driving a bit more sensible this week and the 1st bar on my fuel gauge (pre-facelift dash) went after 41miles! That is excellent for me as they normally dissapear after only 25-30 miles

I've had the car less than a day now. But drove the 100 miles home along the A12 from Brentwood to Lowestoft. I zeroed all the counters before I left. The computer showed 41.9mpg compared to 28mpg in my scooby. Even off the computer is a bit out I think I'll be more than happy. Driving like a granny is no problem for me with little one in the car, the good thing is, it's nippy enough for a blast around the back roads when I'm on my own

Glad you went for the in the end, it's a great little car and if you drive it right you can get a good fuel return. I don't get above 31mpg because i do short journeys

So, what's the best way to drive to get high mpg?

I've got a new job starting in 4 weeks and realised last night that fuel may cost upto £200 for 800 miles a month, so I'm wondering whether I should've took this job now!

Should I do an oil change to help or not?

carry less weight in the car, check your tyre pressure regularly

i dont think changing before 2k helps, its just the rate of acceleration that makes the differnece. change at 2.5k./3k, just dont boot it. 1st gear to get the wheels moving, accelerate in 2nd for abit, get upto speed in 3rd, then straight into 5th

Cool - I'll give it a go. What about the oil change - will it improve mgp or not?

if its not been done for a while, it will certainly help ease the pressure on your car and make it run smoother, but wont really imporove mpg.

Just be very gentle and smooth with throttle and brake inputs. Change between 2/2.5k revs.
Anticipate whats ahead. If there is a traffic light just turned red for example take your foot off the throttle and coast up to the lights. If it's a pedestrian crossing they may turn green again by the time you get there so no need to stop and move off again. Which uses more fuel. Ever wondered why lorry drives keep rolling up to the very last moment? If they can keep moving and not stop it uses less fuel.

my second tank of fuel also gave me 360 mile until the fuel light came on telling me i had 50 miles to empty. more than happy with te fezza, good fuel consumption and a little right fot fun when it's needed
