does anyone find the second half of the tank goes down much quicker than the first?

OMG YES!

it does i always thought was my car being wierd takes ages to get to half a tank.

soon as i get there it looks like from there on it's just pouring out the exhaust needle goes down so quick.

I think it is telling lies though i was on 1/4 tank filled it up usually it's about 42 quid before the click last week filled it up.

£36 pound it clicked on fall tank.

just to put an end to this discussion, i was in the dvla sorting the new wifes change of name yesterday, so i asked the question about displaying tax on lease and hire cars. they said it's an offence to have any vehicle on the road without displaying a valid tax disc, regardless of what it is used for. they also said they would be very interested to know of any companies using the practice of photocopied tax or not displaying tax.

hope this clears this one up

seems they were being naughty when doing this then. i know a design engineer who used to draw up his own tax discs and get them printed before the whole system was computerised.

i've noticed my fuel economy going up every day as now my works moved. I have to drive along quite a long section of road with average 50mph speed camera's to get there. When i first started my mpg was 28.9 but its now gone up to 29.5 since wednesday and its a longer journey too lol

I've got another 580 km out of 40 litres fuel.

I have a question though...
The Fiesta has a 44 litre tank, and im filling up with 40 litres. Does that mean there is 4 litres still in the tank? Or is most of that taken up by air/unused space in the tank?

do you fill up when you are literally empty? (0 miles)
if not there's probably some in the tank still

i have a pre facelift so I have the digital guage, bars...
When I have a small half bar at the bottom the light comes on, but I usually fill up once the last bar dissapears...but when I fill up then its only ever 39-40 litres. So im wondering since the fiesta tank is 44L how much is gonna be in there, I doubt the full 4 litres but I doubt there is nothing too

I expect it would actually be the full 4 litres. daddy2Couls experience sounds unfortunate, but anything I've read says that when the very last bars goes you should have roughly 30 miles left. That ties in with my own experience going to FITP in 2007 when I was worried I was going to run out of petrol when the last bar had gone and the local garages near to where I was setting off from weren't yet open. I drove about ten miles to the next services and it took just over 42 litres to fill.

Thanks Chris. Good to know that there should be some left in the tank.

to be fair, mine had said 38 miles to empty for about 4 days, but i know in that time i had covered at least 20 miles, last time i refilled it said 25 to empty. luckily it ran out on my drive, point up a slight slope, i think it was just pushing it too far to much lol
