Dan,

these few bits will help keep the car looking good without breaking the bank, hope you dont mind me sending you a list

soap suds -
http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/washing-and-drying/meguiars-gold-class-shampoo/prod_109.html

wash mitt (no sponge)
http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/washing-and-drying/meguiars-lambswool-wash-mitt/prod_282.html

drying towel (do not use a leather)
http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/microfibre...l/prod_634.html

keep it simple with a polish and a wax to help protect

so something easy like AG super resis polish and then collinite
http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/wax/collinite-no-476s-super-doublecoat-auto-wax/prod_207.html

obviously you dont need to to use any of the above, but give your a starting point

Bit of a tip...if you use a normal sponge to wash ya car its not a great idea as they are moulded with all abrasives that can give you swirls and scratches even wen the sponge is brand new....id recommend the zymol sponge is completly free of any abrasives wen made from factory..this reduces scrathes etc

+1, I buy alot of my washing/ detailing items from cleanyourcar.co.uk, alot cheaper than halfrauds, even with their 3 for 2 offer and quick delivery. I spent about £60 on cleaning items and products last week, 90% from that website.

You dont need to spend that much though, that includes shampoo, polish, sealant, microfibre clothes etc etc. Just buy the odd product every now and again. It's not as bad as it seems, i bought the chemical brothers gloss and shine shampoo for about £9 but its so concentrated it should last about 8-12months if used once a week and things like the polish and sealant will last ages as it doesn't need to be applied every wash.

Exactly - it was more a heads up or what he can buy if he wants too

More importantly to stop him using fairy on his paint

lol

Yeah it is bad that I use fairy liquid on my paint but this is only my second car, on my first car I didn't really wash it all that much because it was rubbish! And when I did fairy liquid was the answer. It's looking like it's gonna be a nice day so I might just go to halfords anyway just for the drive

Well it was a nice day today but i couldn't be arsed to go out in the end! Ended up spending £57 on cleanyourcar.co.uk got some megs gold class shampoo (I got the bigger one!), megs next gen spray wax, chemical guys new look trim gel, some megs foam applicator pads and some very fine wire wool for the exhaust. Now all I need is another sunny day so I can go dirt busting to the max!

Excellent news, and I'm it will be much better with proper stuff rather than Fairy liquid.
