Hi, from South Africa, thank you for a great looking forum.
I have recently picked up a Fiesta ST 2006 model. High mileage, 220 000 km(140 000) miles), good service history, and all going well.
For obvious reason, the first thing I am interested in is finding others will high mileage ST's to compare notes.

I have only had the car for about a month, so still getting used to fuel consumption and such like (current ave 8.7l/100km - 62 miles).
The standard tyres are not badly priced in SA, and apparently the Duratec 2.0l is pretty bullet proof. You always take a chance buying a high miler (especially, a hot hatch??) but this one is solid and runs really well so I dont expect any headaches down the road.

Sorry, I forgot, why does mine not have the decals on the sides? Did they come as an option from new or might it suggest a respray has been done at sometime?

Don't know what your fuel consumption means

And stripes I believe were an option, but plenty of people taken them off and put them on...

PS. I thought I'd driven mine a lot having done 73,000 miles. Compared to yours it's barely run in!

Welcome! Car looks in good condition mate, I am sure you will enjoy driving her around SA. Where abouts are you from?
The Duratec is a good engine, thrives on high revs and its reliable.

I am from a small placed called Forest Hills, Kloof.
Thanks again for all the welcomes.

The ST is a special car, I love driving it. I have a tendency to drive like a bit of an old man (keeping the RPM below 3000)with the occasional burst reminding me just how enjoyable the car is to drive. The best thing about it is its power to weight ratio, it climbs hills in top gear at low RPM and the slightest amount of gas results in instant acceleration, you have to love it!

Ah, so you are near Durban then? I lived in Cape Town for a few years and have family there, do miss the weather!
Because the car is quite light it does make for good acceleration, the handling is also superb and you will find your confidence increases when cornering. There is nothing wrong with keeping a reasonable rpm for normal driving, it saves fuel if nothing else!! Just remember to open her up regulary, the power really kicks in getting closer to 6,000 rpm

I am unable to post this under the correct section which is why I am posting it here.

I have heard that if a fez has an uneven idle when cold that it might be an idea to clean the throttle body? Apparently they get dirty and effect performance and starting?
I believe this is a straight forward procedure, whereby you remove the 4 bolts holding the TB on and clean it with carb cleaner.
I just have one question, there is a plug at plugs into the TB which will have to be disconnected, do I need to remove battery terminal before removing this plug, or should it be OK?
