Hi all

I bought an ST interior light from the bay over the weekend, planning on retrofitting it into my ST.

I figured it should be plug n play pretty much but i'd need to tap into the sidelight feed to get the ambient leds to work.

Has anyone on here got any experience with this and could offer any advise? it would be much appreciated

Could it be that it the wiring does that automatically? I fitted fog lights over the weekend and woop woop wiring was already there just waiting for me to plug

haha! I doubt it, it would be nice if it did though

The Fez ST never had submarine lighing as an option so I kno I'll have to do a bit of moddin' to make it work.

I dont know for definite if I can make this fit or if it's even possible lol! I'll give it a damn good try though, if I get it working maybe i'll do a write up on here for people (if no-ones done it before that is) who would like to see how

I thought the Fiesta had a submarine light as an option? I know a few people on here have fitted them, dunno if they are from a focus or not though.

on a side note, what exactly is the 'submarine' light anyway?

the light from a focus st will fit in to replace the fiesta st light....its just to do submarine lighting you need to wire the lights to work hope this helps....

Cheers Stevie! maybe your right and it was an optional extra after all? i wont know more myself until it arrives in the post and I have a good look at it when compared to my current one.

To answer your question submarine lighting (ambient lighting it's sometimes called) is just 2 beams of light from LED bulbs sunk into the interior light unit. They focus light around the gear shift and handbrake area. You will only really notice it when driving at night on unlit roads.
Nothin' special really. The only reason I got this is because I got a bit with the 'buy it now' button on eBay I'm a bit impulsive at times

its standard on the ST2 and 3 focus, it looked call in my gf's one and i really wanted to fit it in mine too!

should be simple to wire up, just wire it into the live of the ignition barrel n then wire the negative to any point on the car/ the interior light system

when i bought my car it had a blue LED in the interior light but when the light was turned off there was still a bit of a blue glow, when i took the bulb out there was 3 small LEDs in the one bulb housing.

Just a quick update if anyones interested, the unit has arrived and now I can see all of the connections on the top it looks surprisingly easy to do (stupidly easy in fact) lol!

should only take no more that 15 mins to fit so i'll do this over the weekend.
