I thought it was possible to do that already although I couldn't find the option anywhere. I guess if an admin has to do it, that's why I couldnt find it

This is how the names used to work. They used to Auto Change. I turned it off.

With regards to people changing themselves. This is an 7 year old board now and simply doesn't have the functionality. It would take be far too much time to add this feature.
