Nah I know what I need, it's a high tensile bolt as I just used a shiny thing I had lying about lol. As they did say I needed a high tensile one but I didn't have one haha

Actually had a look today and if you know your bolts mine was a high tensile bolt, 12.9.

So not sure why it has snapped 2 bolts so far, might try a little longer belt, might help take off some strain, but I am just guessing at the moment as Jamsport couldn't help.

12.9 should hold well up against that mate i cant think of why it would be doing that :s Only real reason is that yeah your belt could be too tight!

What sort of torque you doing them up with mate? As with any supporting lock im sure you're more than aware of stretching a bolt by over torquing it and causing fatigue!

Not really sure on the torque, as I can't get any of my torque wrenches in there, although it's only had tight with an alen key so I can't imagine it being super tight.

Going to get a spacer knocked up, so hopefully that might put less pressure on there than the washers I was using, but who knows!

Well bit of an update since I haven't done one for ages.

Once I put the car back together with a new pulley it was making a fairly bad knocking sound. So today I pulled off the belt and fired it up to see if it was the new pulley spacer causing it but no it's not

So time to break it back to standard unfortunately as with buying a place I really can't be arsed to fix it propely. I'll probably get another car as I do need a car and stop messing about with cars as much.

So basically:

FIN

Thanks for the support folks :-)

At th moment my plans are strip back to standard and sell it most like. Will stick around though although probably won't be as active as I normally visit the tech stuff more and once I've sold it I'll probably forget how I did stuff lol
