Hi Guys,

Many of you have been asking for permission changes to the lot due to unpaid members posting and snapping up parts.

I had a think over this and have decided the following.

1. Unpaid users will still be able to post a new thread but will no longer be able to reply to an existing thread.

2. The lot will still be visible to view even if not signed up. I shall be opening up ST-RS so the lot will gain more security over there.

Very good. One question though, if a non-paying member creates a thread in the lot, will they then be able to reply in their own thread given the potentially conflicting "will no longer be able to reply to an existing thread"?

Then it's tough tbh. They need to join the site and become a member to edit/reply to the thread they have created. As others have said... pms would be their only option.

I hope this makes life a little harder for people trying to jump in on members trying to buy parts. It also allows none-members to still add their parts.

ST-RS will be opened in the next week or two. I'm busy this weekend so don't have the time to spend sorting it all out.

sorry to throw a spanner in the works, but does this now mean that my advert is limited to paying members, and if none of these members want to buy it, then a newbie cant get in touch with me to make an offer. i would always give preference to members when selling something that i know people want, but if it doesnt shift quickly, id sell it to anyone. maybe the better idea would be to stop newbies posting up new threads in the lot but allow them to comment on existing ones, and then introduce a new lot in the members section so we have the choice of who gets to see the advert first.

The issue was not with them posting new threads. It was them posting on threads and stealing the sale. They can still PM you to get intouch. This just helps members already on the board and gives them first refusal.

I thought all users were banned from posting withing threads, i had two guys that were interested buying my old ST alloys off me.

One was a no show and all too dodgy character the other is looking i returned a pm to say these are still available.

A completely new member has just signed up, replied to his thread and offered him alloys which I believe due to the lack of response to my pm's he is going for instead.

Why not have 'The Lot' in the members section? (Has anyone already said this?)

Then if there's no interest after a week say, advertise it in the other thread?

You want to widen your chances of a sale so keep it public but if a member PM's you and you get on with them well at meets then you can discount them a bit e.g. I did that with a lot of my sales as I like you guys!
