So driving down the A127 yesterday when I hear a noise. I look in the rear view mirror just in time to see that the plastic trim from the passenger door pillar has decided to part company with the car at 70mph. Damn.

It's about £20 for a replacement. Has this happened to anyone else?!

Believe it or not, I washed the car the day previous to the photo... But there's lots of crap in the air being blown off trees round me.

Jesus, that's scary for this to happen. I haven't known this to happen before. It just seems to have sheared off. Either something has hit it to crack it or it aleady had a weak point somewhere that's caused it to fail.

*gulp* wow that's strange. good thing you did not cause any damage to anyone else. At least it's a cheap replacement. I wouldnt worry too much of it happening again, as Chris said it must have been a one off

Happened to me - suddenly heard a flapping noise and managed to pull off the motorway and take it off. Was hanging on by the last clip. Mine did stay in tact though...

There is a "Tops Tips" thread from Steve about this. He says to secure it before it falls off and costs you money.

Maybe it would be worth reading his other threads to save some more cash

It's a really rubbish design but at least it's not too bad.

Fortunately it didn't hit anyone else on its way. I had noticed it becoming loose once before so I had reaffixed it with some adhesive. That had done the job until now. Like I said, I had washed the car the day previous and it wasn't loose then.

It's annoying Paul. £26 isn't too bad. It could have been £2500 like Dan after a bolt sheered off into his gear box... ouch.

when I put mine back on after wrapping them I put some double sided adhesive

I used blue tac under mine

Lucky it didn't hit anyone too I was on my way back from cornwall a few weeks back in the fast lane and a helmet fell off the handlebars of a bike on a rack on a car, if i was in his lane.... Why the eff was it not in the car?!?!
