Mine and Sarah’s Ford Fair 2011 Story

At 5:00am me and Sarah woke up and got all sorted and left the house in the Silver Focus to pick up the Fiesta Zetec S which was nice and clean. After transferring all the equipment into the car we set off to meet Kev, Chris and Nikki at a pub in Sheldon.

We soon set off in convoy to the first meeting point which was in Coleshill. Due to Nikki’s bowel about to explode and Sarah’s ZS needing fuel, we stopped at a petrol station on the A45. Unfortunately we seemed to have arrived when a bunch of “guys”, also needed the loo. After them taking 15minutes and not letting Nikki in before them (ignorant idiots), we set back off to the 1st meeting point. On the way there travelling at 65mph down the country duel carriageway I hit a big fat pigeon which took out the lower front grill and all clips on the bumper. What a fantastic start!!!

Once we quickly greeted the guys already at Coleshill and putting the Grill in place we set off down the M42, M40 to meet everyone else at Cherwell Valley Services.

After a quick toilet break and a posh Costa Caramel Coffee for Sarah and a ticket/pass exchange session we all set off for Silverstone.

Well…

I’m unsure if someone had an issue with their car or got bored and did a burn out here.

Kurt’s personal caterer

Finally got to the track and after parking up, many of you cleaning your cars and setting the devil gazebo up it was nearly time to get the flags up and then start to relax and have a walk around.

This wasn’t the case. Sarah walked over and said “I haven’t got my keys, have you got them?” I advised I didn’t have them as I had just given them to her. She then said that the keys must be locked in the boot. Hands up how many of you have pressed the boot release button and locked your keys in the boot \\o//  I am one of them and I know Chris is another culprit lol.

After the AA coming very swiftly with only an hour’s wait, we managed to get the car open and keys out of the boot. At this point it was raining so decided not to get the flags out and took shelter in the Gazebo.
Finally being able to recover the keys and get my camera, it was time to have a walk around.

Here are some ‘Dislikes’

I hate these wheels… make the car look cheap

I actually like the colour, but it’s not right on a Series 2 with bling bling… a Lambo, yes.

Horrid, horrid Green.

Stupid Wheels… why would anyone like these?

Here are some “Likes”

I loved the LED day lights, Very smartly positioned.

Walking out of the paddock area we managed to find a few very nice examples.
Including Dan and Katie’s (They did seem to have parked it on the wrong stand through)

Loving the Mk7 Alloys with painted centres on the

A very nice looking MK7 Rally Spec

This caught my eye and I thought it looked fantastic. With an engine in there too, why didn’t think of this?

On the way to watch some track action, I spotted this Mk1 on a very steep slope. It seemed a little odd to have a stand here and park it in such a manor.

OK… some track action

This was the crazy MK2 Rally Spec which was hooning it around and is now having to reverse down the road due to its gearbox giving way mid corner, causing lots of slippery action.

Finally it was time to pack up and leave Ford Fair for another year. A great day and pretty eventful for me and Sarah lol.

Hey Nikki!!! SMILE!!!

Lightening McQueen

I did spot some guys having a little more trouble than us getting their Gazebo down… it was completely twisted and they were struggling lol.

After losing Kev and Nikki on the way home – they went down the M1 for some unknown reason. I was ¼ mile away from home and going over a speed bump the lower grill fell clean off into the road. Luckily I managed to recover it before anyone drove over it.

Just for anybody who wondered where the was.

A fantastic day and great turn out. Thanks again to the guys driving from Europe and everyone else taking the time and effort to turn out.
I have decided that next year I shall be booking up a track pass and taking the silver focus on the track. It would be great for others to join in so we can have a few of the club on the track together. Is anyone up for this?

Here is me looking like a pillock. I'll get some better pictures up that I took at some point.

My car has been in complete bits since FF by the way. Photos of that to come soon too.

One of the reasons I won't take my MK1 on there.

Tempting... you've got to do it Kev... Need to re-run the leg that we did in that French Forest around a track. I have 35bhp less with more weight but i'm fully prepared to give you a good run for your money!!!
