I have got some free time and i want to paint the inside of the headlights, does anyone know how to go about splitting them so i can get in there. i read someone used a hair dryer but it took ages, anyone know any quicker ways? what should i re-seal the casing back on with when im done? i want the chrome bits white and the grey bits satin black can i take the chrome bits out to paint or is it a masking tape job?

Use a hair dryer mate it doesn't take that long at all on high heat slow setting. Then you should be able to prize it apart with a little bit of effort. To take the chrome bits off remove the torx screws on the back of the headlight and they should just pull away. Not sure what to use to reseal them though as I never painted mine in the end I was just experimenting with old headlights lol. Hope that helps
