Been thinking of getting some stretched tyres fitted and spacing the wheels right out.

I have seen them on some Vdub cars and they look real good as they seem to be the trend in the local cruise seen. looks like they fit smaller width tyres on to the standard rim

What i wanna know is, are they safe??

seen as my car is lowered and i like to corner quickly i dont know weather to do have them fitted or not.

Dont wanna be on a roundabout and the tyre rolls off the rim

Mate, just my opinion but they looks sooooooooooooooo sh*te!!

There is no way they can handle 'proper' driving

yeah thats the plan, was more curious than anything. some camber on the beack would the good too, Ive got spax RSX coilovers and on them you can adjust the stiffness, there's 28 levels of stiffness 28 being the stiffest. i tend to have front and back set to 20.

i know someone who has 13" alloys with deep dish and stretch tyres (euro style polo), he said it handles really good around corners and you can go fast with them but I laughed when the other day he said he span 180 because he took a corner to fast and the tyre came off, so i dont think there that safe

Some vdubs can pull the look off, the Fiesta looks ridiculous with them imo. Each to their own though

Aren't they illegal anyways? I'm sure someone said once once before that if you have tyres stretching outside the wheelarch you can get done for them being dangerous the same as if they were bald.

Yes, any tyre sticking out further than the wheel arch, you will get pulled. The only slight chance of getting away with it is fitting mud flaps to the arches to clear the outside of the tyre wall.... but that would look s**te. Don't go Chavvy on us.

Thats an extreme stretch, that looks naff but not all look bad and can only be illegal as Decats, HID's, window tints ETC..

i belive the legal part of this is the top of the tyre can not go past the arch...

same as your exhaust.. it can not go past the furthest part of the rear of the car..

i dont know the boy personnally with the strech tyres on porsche rims but i know of him and people that sort of know him and he has alot of money behind him

Dont like it at all, but it looks as though the current fashion is stretched tyres and smooth body =[

I acquired this tyre at the weekend, its a little slick which i'm going to get fitted to the front left of my ST. Should work good on roundabouts. The size is 10/4.5-5:

I HATE THOSE STUPID ALLOYS. If i find that anyone on here has them on their I will instantly ban them. I actually nearly threw up the homemade lamb balti that Sarah made me... and believe me it was yummy... this is how much I hate those alloys.

not specifically the porsche ones Matt, Scott is referring to his general hatred of all alloys with stretched tyres like those above
