an Ibiza is a bit cheaper but still 12,000 euros (10,000 GBP)

and even though i'm going diesel, I still want more power than what I have now, so a ZS diesel is not an option

you have obviously not looked into tuning capabilitys into the engines then... upto 123bhp on some cars that have been mapped at the same place... chuck in a hybrid turbo, a turbosmart 2 unit and having a straight through pipe with a backbox on the end and your looking towards the good side of 150bhp with good fuel economy, no smoke on boost and even more power avilable as someones proved with a recent addition of AMG tips on the injectors but not having enough time to play with it yet...

ooo and at 150 bhp your looking at 350NM of torque.... you will need a new clutch here lol

ooo and unlike the older SEAT's you only need £30 on tax...

I did look at Leon Cupra Tdi's before the ST, just because of the potentials of the torque

But i have to have something to listen to, not a tractor grumbling at 5krpm!

mate, im not wanting a car where i have to tune the nuts off it to get not particularly large amounts of bhp, i want a better starting point, which i wont have to mess with in the beginning, then a map/chip will give me a good boost so i dont have to spend thousands

and im not looking into extensive tuning capabilities yet, just a good base and a map/chip

and im not in the uk, tax is different here, any diesel is 3 times more than the petrol version

seat will be a starting point of 150-170bhp with 320-350Nm, where the chip will get me up to 180-210bhp and 380-400Nm

Friends got a mondeo mk3 tdci ex private doctor with a map to 170bhp just keeps on pulling through the gears and averages about 45mpg even got 50 on a journey to London, he has kept it all standard except from the chip when he bought it

I think it's pretty obvious that I'm quite a fan of these particular diesels.....

thats one of the main reasons im thinking about diesels
diesel is about 30-40 cents cheaper than petrol, this is partly why the tax is higher.
i'm currently working out exactly how much I might save with a diesel considering the amount of miles I do

Currently Euro95 is €1.60 (£1.40) and diesel is €1.26 (£1.10)

ive just done some quick calculations based on a focus and a leon, neither one will be cheaper per month to run, fuel will be less per month definitely, but the tax is 70 euros more each month for them and the insurance will be a bit more

so even though diesel is cheaper, my ZS is economical enough and cheap enough to tax and insure to make a diesel not worth while

Drove my mates seat leon FR 170 diesel after fitting a clutch to it and it was very quick in 3rd 4th and 5th gear the torque was great, would definately have a modern diesel car. My partner vicky has a 1.4 diesel fez on a 56 plate and it pulls a lot better than the 1.4 petrol we had, plus £30 a year to tax and 50+ mpg.
