Well what a buzz kill today was. Dropped the car of at EH blackpool at 8:30 this morning. Get to work and was pretty busy so the day flew by...then 3 o'clock came and time seemed to stand still. The next 2 hours took forever and I had my phone out ready for the call to say my car is ready. 5pm on the dot I get a call from them...only to say that there is something wrong with my ECU and they cannot put the mp165 map on it!!! Even worse is they say they've never seen something like this before and don't know how to fix it, and as it was 5pm their help/technical department and Ford HQ or whatever was closed. So all parts fitted but no ECU map and no estimate on how long its going to take to put it right. He said they'll be on it tomorrow and see what their tech guys say but he even mentioned needing to get a Ford engineer out to fix it which probably won't happen quickly They said its something like the ECU wasn't configured properly when it came out the factory so their device doesn't recognise it. It hasn't been modded/remapped in the past either so its really strange. So gutted about that. After the loooooooong wait for parts to arrive this happens. I kinda had a feeling something wasn't right when 4pm passed and I had no call...I was sure it would be done by then. The only consolation (kinda) is that EH Blackpool gave me a courtesy car and said I can keep it until my car is done. It is a brand spanking new focus (the new model, 2000 miles on the clock). Handles like a boat and feels MASSIVE compared to the little fez but it is so damn smooth and comfortable. Even the gearbox is superb, shifting is so smooth and effortless and such little travel between gears. You can't even notice down shifts its that smooth. Seats are excellent. Steering is feather light but what isn't compared to the ST steering. It's a 1.6 and after driving the fiesta around as my only car...feels sooooooooooo slow, but wow it is quiet! Honestly feel like I'm floating on air when driving it. Got a few extras on it as well...all rear tints, electric mirrors, a steering wheel machine gunned with buttons (no idea what they do yet), bluetooth, cruise control and a load more. Not sure if it has the self parking feature though!! Need to have a play around and see if it does. It has rear parking sensors so maybe it does. So...wanted to be able to come on tonight and give my first impression about the mp165, instead you can have a Focus 1.6 review :P

blimy that really is a rare blip, never ever heard of this happening with any Mountune Upgrades, EH will be keen to sort it though and be able to learn and fix any other future ones that might occur. Are you sure it has never been modded, are you the only owner, would be difficult to do though accessing a Ford ECU so unlikely. Maybe they will reset it to factory conditions then upload the 165 settings. Nice review though I can imagine the Focus being nice and quiet, well hope your next review is a faster one !
night for now, will check in at lunch tommorrow.

@Micky. I don't think it has anything to do with the Mountune map...its more to do with my ECU which is missing something, which then means they cannot put the Mountune map on it (from what I understand). Plus EH Blackpool deal with mountune upgrades on a daily basis almost, so they know what they're talking about. But yea at least they're letting me keep the courtesy car completely free of charge and insured by them, so I can get about as normal. There was a guy who came in literally 20 seconds after me and he got a pretty basic fiesta for a courtesy car, so at least I got a win there.
@YellowBadge. I'm pretty sure it has never been modded, only one owner before me and it was a woman (an elderly family woman to be more specific) and they bought it from Ford and provided full history of Ford services + it had excellent mileage for an 07 (18,000). It was under warranty with them so they wouldn't have modded it...plus driving it you can tell it hasn't been modded.
As you said I'm hoping its something as simple as resetting/reprogramming it to factory default and then just proceeding as normal with the 165 map. But I dunno, didn't sound great on the phone. They said if I want I can come and take my ST with all the parts on it but no map...but I didn't want to ruin the experience of receiving my complete mp165. Plus they preferred to supply me with the complete package as well.
Will report back tomorrow when I hear something. gd night all.
