Greenlight - Awaiting quote
Adrian Flux - £780.00 (but he didn't add the named drivers, I think because he knows he's not getting a sale today)
Aviva - £684.00
Bell - £756.23

Quote:

Get your quotes through the likes of Greenlight and Adrian Flux when you have mods. You will get some 'ok' non-specialist insurers like Elephant charging a fair price per mod, but some of the main stream insurers run a mile as soon as you talk about modifications and quote silly money.

A K&N, flexi, even full exhaust system shouldn't cost 'that' much to insure.

Apparently I fall out of Greenlight's acceptance criteria for the following reason: "Unspecified".

Could it be age or no claims?

yeah think he was joking about that

Greenlight wouldn't give me a quote for ages was really annoying because they put the same for me "unspecified"

Eventually got one last week at £1600!!!
Admiral quoted me £700 and all mods were declared on both

I was thinking about what Scotty said in more depth today.

Aviva's website classes a modification to be "any alteration to a vehicle that was not part of the standard manufacturer’s specification, or that was not fitted as an option when the vehicle was manufactured".

So that means tinted windows and side stripes wouldn't need to be declared if they were purchased as an optional extra? They are some of the most expensive mods!

Changes we need to know about

The principal policyholder must tell us immediately if there are any changes to the information set out in the application and/or Information Provided By You document, or in your schedule, or any other changes in circumstances which might affect this insurance, for example:

1. a change to the people insured, or to be insured.
2. motoring convictions for any of the people insured, or to be insured.
3. a change of vehicle.
4. any vehicle modifications.
5. a change in the way that any vehicle is used.

If you are in any doubt, please contact 0844 891 1101.
When you inform us of a change, we will tell you if this affects this insurance, for example whether we are able to accept the change and if so, whether the change will result in revised terms and/or premium being applied to this policy. If the principal policyholder does not inform us about a change it may affect any claim you make.

To be fair to Admiral, when I needed a new front bumper after my crash a few years ago I was pleasantly surprised when I picked it up that the bits of OTT stripes where there on the new one where they should be.

Some companies require you to tell them all optional extras, if you have alloys from new as an extra some require you to tell them

Well just been messing around with loads of different quotes and while I'm not being 100% accurate (slightly lower mileage than I will probably do) I will soon be declaring everything (even did one to see how much to declare mountune 165 would be) and it's only about £80 more than If I didn't declare so it's a no brainer really!

Definately.

I have just ran another insurance quote with Aviva and it's coming out at £583 with all mods declared (uprated headlights, stripes, tinted windows) plus the K&N which I will be fitting at renewal. Those 4 mods make £0 difference to the quote. Was £684 this time last month.

Can't wait for renewal time! Cutting my milage would only save me £20 for 2,000 miles so I will be stating exactly what I've done over the past 12 months.
