How to cover up the coin tray?

A while ago I put a car air freshner directly onto the plastic coin tray on the dash. The chemicals made the plastic flake a little bit. Is there anything I could cover it up with?

Thanks for the suggestion Lee, but I rarely use my phone while driving as I use a Tom Tom. Any other suggestions anyone?

£1 rubber anti slip mat ordered from eBay. Is it sad that I know it will still annoy me knowing it's flaky under there?
