Thinking about getting the rear windows tinted, not 100% sure if I want it done yet, was just gonna see how much it would cost to have done, anyone have an ballpark figurs as to how much it'd cost to have done.

Mine were around 120, probably one of my fave mods on the car, makes it look soooo much better!

Yeah it varies - mine was 3 figures but can't remember exactly what but they did a really good job. Had people at FITP commenting they thought it was the standard privacy glass

Get it done mate

definitely thinking of it being one of the next mods for the car
one other thing was, where does everyone think would be the best place to get spacers and extended bolts from for the car? really like the low wide dance so think would be a big improvement for the car

I think you're only allowed a very small percentage of tint on the front, if at all according to the law

Unless the law has changed, your fronts have to let in 70% of natural light

Yes that's correct. Just to clarify the limits again:

Front windscreen, 25% tint allowed.
Driver and passenger side windows, 30% tint allowed.
All other windows, unlimited.

As clear glass cuts down some light anyways, it's very difficult to legally get away with much of a tint on the front windows. Whilst it's something you can only be fined for rather than receive points, there have been people on here in the past that have been ordered to remove them at the roadside there and then.

The companies I spoke to about getting mine done (within the last couple of months) said that I couldn't have ANY tint on the front or windscreen now!

No the regulations are still the same. From VOSA themselves:

www.window-tint.co.uk/img/VOSA-Window-Tinting-Laws.pdf

As per my last post, due to plain glass blocking some light anyways, it is virtually impossible to apply any extra tint without breaching the limits.

Hmmm, how strange Chris... I wonder why they said that then? Surely they just turned down extra business?!

I got my window tints done at £25.00/window by some tinting experts. But the guy and his team do it privately and just cash in hand.

That's a good price mate mine was £120 without a guarantee but they were mobile and came out to my house and did it.

Liesta, take them off asap mate. If the police pull you, it's a £30 fine and you have to rip them off there and then.

As for regulations, Chris is correct.

Windscreen 20%, front windows 30% and rear unlimited. Alot of companies won't offer windscreen tinting anymore, I believe this is because Police were forever pulling cars over to test them.

Tom, I hate to tell you but just because packaging shows an E mark, it doesn't make them legal.

ALot of places in China make cheap crap, and want to make high profit, they fake the E mark.

CHeck the bulbs and see if they have an E mark or BS stamp on them, because if a car with Blue sidelights comes into my station, I'm going to fail it lol. E mark or not.

Hope that helps and prevents you a £60 fine.

I'd remove them if I were you. If you get pulled over by the same policeman you're only going to get fined again, plus more than likely you'll either be asked to remove them at the side of the road or be given a rectification notice. This means that you have to take into a garage and pay someone to remove them as you have to get the paperwork stamped to take to the police station inj order to prove it's been done.
