You can because I went and had it done at my local dealership. Worth the few mins and £8 imo.

Ok. I have read my service book from back to front and there is not mention of the actual paint/body check interval. When I had my first year service I rang 3 different dealers and they all said that its the second year it needs doing.
(check the ford techincal web site :- www.etis.ford.com , as it gives all the services stuff for for car on every year.

I have just had my second year service done 5 days ago and it had the paint/body check done then.
Only this morning I have noticed on the back door just below the bottom of the window then paint is bubbling in 2-3 places - OMFG. So it looks like they did'nt do he check correctly. As far as I am concerned this should not happen on a 2 year old car that is looked after and cleaned/polished with the dealers own recommended polish. But from the Warranty details it looks like this had to happen in the first year, and for it now to be a Corrosion protection warranty it has to be a perforatted hole - So they expect me to wait till the corrosion has made a nice big rust patch then a hole over a few years before they will do anything. This seems stupid. I am going to find out this week.

I have had three fords all repaired under the paintwork warranty and one of them was five years old, my RS had a new A pillar, my 54 plate fiesta ghia had the door seams repaired and the same with my dads mondeo ghia x, all i had to show was the cars service history and paintwork stamps.
Get in touch with ford customer service, if you leave it, its only going to cost more to repair in the longterm. They will try and fob you off so keep at them.

It seems now they've changed it to every 2 years but I still get mine done every year at a garage just for the stamp and peace of mind. For £8 or so its worth it in my book.

Update:-

Spoke to Dealer and Tomoorow I have to take it to the dealer and Ford approved accident and body work repair place whihc is a seperate company (advance accident repair in Chesterfield).
So hopefully I won't get the normal bull from a dealer about not being covered under warranty.
I will keep this post updated how I get on.

Read the Car Manual this morning and it just recommends cleaning the car regulary and waxing it 1-2 times a year. So not speacial car cleaning instructions what so ever.

Update 2:-
Got a call the other day from the paint/repair place from their warranty guy advsing that it needs the paint stamp every year ????
I rang 2 different ford dealers and both advised its every 2 years. One even rang ford direct to check and Ford Advised that from 2006 for fiesta's the paint check is every 2 years. (not sure if its Fiestas bought after 2006 or all years).
So I advised the paint/repair place to send the fault details to ford warranty.
So I am still waiting to for the out come.

Update 3:-
It is not going very well.
Ford have got back to the repairers and said they won't cover it. Their excuse is that it is a paint fault and I should have spotted it in the first year !!

WTF it has only just started and its travelling from under the window panel(glass). The repairer also said that it does'nt look good to ford that only a week earlier it had its paint check by the dealer and it was not picked up. I advised them that it is easily missed and its not my F****** fault that the dealer's mecanics can not see properly.

Any way So I went straight up to the dealer who I bought the car off got out the sales manger and showed him and told him I was not happy with the situation. I explained that you could forgive it if the car was 6 years old, but it was only 2, I also explained that I was using their recommended Jewelbrite diamond bright car wash and wax. He has taken my details and is going to speak to Ford warranty him self.

I still have an Ace up my sleve though :- Its the Sales of good act. Which I have been looking into and it turns out that the dealer who sold me the car is responsible for repairs on any faulty part of the car that has not been mis-treated or abused. This is up to 6 years. It turns out that retailers start to panic when customers mention this act as they are reliing on customers being ignorate to consumer laws.
The part of the act is not fit for purpose, which currently that part of the paint work is not fit for purpose.

RESULT !!!

I contacted Ford Customer Services direct (Not the Warranty side) and explained the whole situation and My feelings about the lack of help with the paint work fault.

They investigated the situation and came to the conclusion that even though they expect any paint faults to appear in the first year, it was a fault and they would pay a token amount for the respray.

The token amount exceeds the cost of the re-spray, so nothing to Pay.
